I have a phone interview for an Itinerary Reservation Agent in Tampa. I'm trying to do some real research on this job. I know it pays about $9.00. The hours can be crazy. But is this a good job? I love Disney World very much and I want to work for Disney. But if this job isn't a good job, I don't want to lose some of the magic.

Has anyone ever been a reservation agent?
What's it like?

9.00 an hour sounds extremely low.

Also you don't work where you play - the Magic won't seem so magical when your in a work endued environment catering to guests as opposed to being catered to.

:welcome:

Well, living in Tampa and working in Tampa probably won't take too much gloss off the poisoned apple... $9.00 per hour for a remote call center position is probably about right, especially if it's entry level. Does it include benefits?

I have a friend that did this only in the Orlando center. She was full time with all the full time Disney benefits and she also made additional incentives/comission based on sales. She also didn't think it took from the magic and because of the position they had some special perks.

I want to work there. But I also don't want to get into the job and absolutely hate it. I'm weighing my pros and cons here.

You probably will never know if you will hate/ or love it unless you try. $9.00 is low wage but it is not minimum wage. Depending on what your options are right now, it might be the best job for you at the time. Does it include benefits? full time?

If you need work, and it is close to you, go for it. You might like talking with and helping people plan their trips. It will be a lot of talking on the phone and typing and looking at a computer screen (I imagine sitting also) . Are you ok with that?

If you hate it, then resign and move on to something else.

and just for the record, since you won't be working in the park, I don't think it will ruin the magic.
