Can I just ask, what is an NSF?

Sent you a PM!

Thanks! I replied!

Stan put it simply. I know what I have to do.

But my favorite line ever was from RUDisney:
You're only being the bad guy to one employee. Everyone else will think you're a hero.

You have no idea how many people walk around :rolleyes1 about her. But to show you how TWO faced she is, half the building thinks she's one thing, but those of us who know her thinks she's another thing. The accounting dept had no idea she was so dramatic until the paycheck fiasco, up until then they thought she was like she looked, together and upbeat.

To give you an idea of what she looks like she is a NOW Janet Jackson lookalike. Yes, THAT kind of 40. Beautiful girl but very hard to deal with. Several of the new guys tried to flirt with her for a second or two but found out QUICKLY that retreating was the correct thing to do. They usually peek in my office and go the famous WTH :confused3 look!

I just wanted to wish you luck again and remind you to be sure and cover all your actions. Bring in another manager for any counseling sessions so you have a reputable witness and she can't twist anything around.

I've had to fire people and/or let them go, and it has always been the worst and hardest thing for me to do. BUT - sometimes you do the deed and feel real good afterwards!!!

Amen!!

I've had to let people go in the past, too, but nothing like this. Even as I'm typing this I'm dealing with it. Being able to vent HERE (I really cannot in the office) makes it easier to deal with.

I'd fire her at the next problem you have with her. Whether you had a replacement or not. There is no need for the rest of your department to put up with that. She is creating a hostile work environment and that is not healthy for anyone.

Anyone who gets fired after being counseled shouldn't be surprised by it. We've never let anyone go from my employer who couldn't see the writing on the wall... and they are the ones who put it there.

Okay, update...

I didn't mention she's a HYCHONDRIAC, did I? She could care less if anyone else is ill... she actually acts disgusted by anyone else's illness, but HERS???

Two weeks ago she strained her chest at her other job, she's also a hostess for the Atlanta Braves. She whined about that until she took 2 days off. This week she has a bad cold. Coughs in everyone's face and is just about fainting at her desk. We ask if she needs anything and it's her excuse to whine some more....

Just a few minutes ago she screamed my name and threw up in the garbage can at her desk. I am here to tell you I have a degree in theatre and I could NOT HAVE put on that kind of performance. People came running to help her but she just went on and on. We got her water, napkins and I rubbed her back, she would sit up and bend over and throw up again.

I'm sorry but I had to check why now? This is the day she does the "Crawford Run", when she has to transport program and comml tapes to our broadcast facility. She HATES to do this. Friday I sat her down and told her that NO, she cannot push this responsibility on me or anyone else, we pay her to make the run and it was stipulated to her when she was hired.

She is supposed to make the run at 3:00. What time is it?????

She breathes heavily and says to me "oh Robin, I have to get those .... (throws up) tapes to (throws up) Crawford.... I can do it!"

:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

Our Quality Control guy volunteers to do it....

I check on what needs to go and by the time I get back to her she is GONE!!! She was too sick to move a minute ago.

Again, everyone is quiet, that kind of quiet we get when it's DIANE TIME....

:surfweb:

Robin, you need to write a book on her!

She is "Nasty" like Miss Janet!

Where did she hide the Epicac (sp???) Syrup?? How long does it take for that to get out of your system?

Wow, I though I was having a bad day as a new manager. I got NOTHING on that one.

Wow. I dont even know what to say. She sounds like she might need some professional help. Sorry that you have had to deal with her antics. I cannot believe the second. job is as a supervisor. That ought to be interesting! If she cannot manage her own work how on earth will she manage them? Crazy

I will NEVER EVER complain about my job or coworkers EVER!!!! :thumbsup2 Actually, I have encountered people like her-- my dorm-assigned roommate my freshman year of college was exactly like her (actually, if you didn't post her name, I would have asked if this were the same person ;) )... I'm so sorry you have to deal with her-- I got out of the roommate situation QUICK!

She is obviously immature and clearly wants attention. I would fire her ASAP (but be careful of letting her play sick too much-- she might try to say she is getting fired because she is sick!)... in the meantime, you guys should all get together and have an "ignore Diane day"-- people like this don't like to be ignored-- if the shenanigans increase, she is almost definitely faking!

I hate to accuse someone I don't know at all of faking, but what you described with the throwing up sounds *exactly* like she took ipecac!!!!

Oh, my goodness, I am drained.....

Some co workers told me she took off after her "episode"... probably so she wouldn't have to deal with me. I am soooo tired of this.

Our creative director came down and asked "did I miss today's show?" It's getting OOOOOLD....

Ignore Diane Day... that's EVERYDAY for me. That's the reason she did the ipecac thing, BRILLIANT btw, everyone! If we ignore her her antics become more and more dramatic. One time she took a day off and didn't call us... yes, you heard me.... so when she came in I gave her the spiel about what to do when you plan to be absent. She claimed she called someone who NEVER got the call....

I spent the rest of the day hearing her tell everyone how SICK she was and how she couldn't call because she was SOOOOOOO sick (tear tear) and how SORRY she was....

Sorry, I wasn't playing her game and totally ignored her.

It escalated until I had to leave the area.

Like I said, it's something different every day. It's never the same thing so this documentation will be a doozy!!!

I just want to post that I hope today is a better day!! Perhaps Diane is out sick again??

I had to find this thread to document some of her problems...LOL!!

The VP has a list and told me to keep one, too. Little did he know that I had heeded the advice of some of you guys and started one already.

Today she calls in and says that she would be in 3 1/2 hours late because she had ORIENTATION at WalMart...????? WHAT????

I got 3 calls last night from our broadcast facility that she had NOT dropped off 2 very important tapes, one that was supposed to air last night... :furious:
I had to find replacements (note, I was in my pajamas) and fix the placements over the phone...

Also one of our ministries was missing and she sent them an email about how it was rejected a week before! Then WHY, Dear Lord, was it still on the program log??????

I'm giving her two weeks... then I am THROUGH. WalMart can HAVE HER!!! (that was also a quote from our VP!) :lmao:

Robin you are a wonderful woman! Sorry you have to deal with all of this.

I just found this thread, and my first thought was "Give her something else to whine about and fire her butt!"

I had a former co-worker who as like this (note the 'former'). Actually she wasn't this bad, she was a likeable person outside of work. But she had some emotional problems and personal problems, and her work began to suffer big time. My boss gave her several chances to straighten up, and we have an employee assistance program so she had resources to get help. But her poor work continued and we had to let her go (after documenting everything, of course). She went on to go through three more jobs in a single year, then found a guy who made enough money to support her and her two kids without her working and she married him. Probably the best move for her, without the stress of working full time, I think her mental/emotional stuff has worked itself out.

Why give her two more weeks? Sounds like you have plenty of ammo to do her in now.

Absolutely. No need to put everyone through 2 more weeks when the decision has been made. She isn't going to change and she opened the perfect opportunity for you to hand her walking papers today with this Walmart training. I'd be packing up her stuff and getting payroll to cut that final check to hand her.
