employee gifts

I'd vote for not the mugs or candles. I am thinking from the direction of the employee- I for one already have a shelf full of mugs and end up donating mugs and most candles. I like the idea of the movie passes or GC's.

I would like to echo this sentiment! My mugs end up in my yard sale, marked ten cents and still no takers. There are some great clever ideas on another recent thread about frugal gifts. I personally like the idea of the themed gift basket with all consumables or any kind of gift card. DH and I argue about this every year, but I think that giving a gift card shows MORE thought than buying something the person neither wants nor needs.

For the last 2 years my DH has presented his workers with a bag of Lindt chocolates & 1 day when all are on he treats for Chinese food (he works in a hospital so food onsite is standard hospital fare). It is easier than trying to figure out girl/guy gifts and everyone enjoys both the Chinese and chocolate.

I have received mugs (have too many already), bath & body works (to me I feel it's too personal to recv from male coworkers), scratch tickets (always a hit), and gift cards to various places (also a great idea).
