Employee Bonus

This is a Holiday/Christmas bonus only-nothing to do with merit or performance.
The employees are both new to him (ie: less than 6 months).
We are open to a cash bonus plus a gift/gift card, but are having a hard time coming up with an amount & keeping it even between them or doing more for the full timer.
They are barbers, so they do not have a set weekly salary.
Thanks for listening :)

For a small-ish Christmas gift (vs. a big corporate bonus), I would probably just do the same amount.

Based on total conjecture (I realize situations are different), but sometimes the person who makes less would need/appreciate the extra money. I would just go with what you think is best for your particular situation.

Totally different scenario— my husband has employees who do the same job/amount of work but make vastly different amounts of money (RNs and scrub techs). To me, it would make no sense that the RNs should be entitled to double the bonus amount because they make double the salary all year.

Since it is strictly a Christmas gift, I'd make it the same.

Where I work awards are grossed up so you get the amount of the award. For example, a $500 reward would be in the paycheck as $875 or something like that so the employee gets the $500.

I think it depends on the budget. If he's thinking $50 gift cards, same for both. If it's more substantial, I would think the full-timer should receive more.
I totally agree with this. If we're just talking about giftcards as a xmas gift, then it should be equal. BUT, for a more substantial bonus, the fulltime staff should definitely get more. It wouldnt be fair to the full time staff if they both had the same amount. The full time staff works way more.

I would the same gift/gift card but then different cash since that is a bonus. The cash bonus would be based on either the days worked or the revenue brought in by each. I see one as a Christmas gift and the other as a bonus for job well done and making the business successful.
