Emo...it's an epidemic.

Mainly, only emo guys wear thir hair diagonally across their face (I think it's hott no matter what kind of guy it is) but usually most girls who have the side swept bang, their just following the Nicole Richie, etc trend. I just happen to be one of those girls xD
same lol

I was at Farmer Jack's the other day buying some food, and i had on a black american eagle shirt, jeans, and some black high-tops. Now I'm not emo or anything i just felt like wearing those clothes right then. I would have worn my other shoes, but they were somewhere in the mess that i call my room. So When I was there there was this older lady shopping with her middle aged daughter and the older lady said to her daughter quite loudly, "Look at that emo girl over there." and she was pointing at me. I was like huh? I am the farthest thing from emo, even all my friends said that.

See, that's what I absolutly hate. I'm basically as far from emo/goth as you can possibly get. I vocally express my hatred for it and everyone knows it. But now, with the emo/goth craze, I feel like I can't wear a black shirt out in public once in awhile anymore because people will assume that. It's obnoxious.

personally I am stunned emo and goth can be said in the same sentence lately.

Goth scares me.
My best friends brother seems to think I am one.
Too bad he doesn't seem to know half the stuff I wear is bright pink.

No real goth will ever call themselves that. But I do have many many friends in that group, and I've been indentified as that. But I do not identify myself to any specific set of people. But all in all, some "goths" are the sweetest people I've ever met.

Ooopsies. Sorry, I didn't mean the people, I meant the actual goth look. I can't explain entirely.

Oh, I didn't take offense to that. The look is an aquired taste.

Well, I am too. Why did I do it then you may ask? Because I hate them both, what they believe, what they do, how they generally act, etc. Because of this, I group them together and it's fitting since we have both the crazes going on now.

we have different beliefs, but I respect that. Its just still amazing to me that these two polar opposites can be generalized together lately.

I think emo is a stupid trend. There are some kids who think they are emo even though the are not. the other day this "emo" kid had a shirt on that said "finding emo". It had nemo on it with a lip piercing and black side-cut bangs. It's like they use the trend just to get attention!! :sad2: I can't wait until it is over.

Wow that's really harsh and mental to say you hate people who are goth and emo. It's just a style. A lot of people who dress "Goth" or who dress "Emo" don't act all depressed and ohmygodimgonnakillmyself-esque, and generally they don't all believe the same thing. My gosh, just let people dress the way they want to.

anyway...
I happen to think that emo boys are quite adorable. Emo really is just like a reheated version of 80's punk toned down, and it's always nice to see pople doing something different than flat ironed, highlighted hair that so many people have. I have emo hair...hehehe.

It appears that we have agreed to disagree here. I do thank you A TON for saying that you respect that we believe differnet things, people with respect for people with different ideas are so rare nowadays, I really appreciate finding one. :thumbsup2

To KatieIsSoPR, I don't care how you (you as in society, not you as in you) dress but don't pretend to be something that you're not. Don't be gothic or emo (or any other 'group' presay) just to follow a trend. In acting a certain way, you are convaying a message. Don't get yourself into something with a negative perception because you know that is how it is going to be seen and don't act a certain way. It's how I feel and something I feel very strongly about. I really appreciate you calling me mental, that's very nice of you.

Although i would classify myself as "urban conservative" style, I really don't care what people look like or care to dress as. I find it kind of strange that all of the old styles are coming back (tight pants, long hair) but personally, I stick with my jeans and some sort of shirt...

Who are you talking to here because I never said I hated any style. I was simply establishing my view on this growing population of the "emo" style. I only addressed the fact that this particular style is indeed increasing and I advertantely added in the fact that people are participating in this trend as a way to call themselves "unique" while they appear to dress, act, and sometimes think alike.

I am all for one's opinion and taste in style. I would, in no way, degrade someone based on their fashion sense. I was merely pointing out the fact that I've noticed lots of this particular trend around.

I'm sorry, because you addressed you post to no one, I assumed it was to me as I started the thread. lol. Sorry about my defensiveness, but I only wanted to make it clear that I wasn't agressing against it. (even though I personally don't like it, heh.) :goodvibes

Eh, don't worry about it. I'm almost certain she was talking to me. My applause to you for starting a thread that gets people talking. I have tried starting one and got slammed for my opinions. It's nice to get a thread with discussion going.

I was talking to whoever said that they hate emo and goth people. Oh and to the person who said that, I wasn't calling you mental, I was calling what you said mental....it made more sense at the time I guess because now, it really doesn't make any. Uuuh, yeah...

Look I don't see the difference between Emo style and Goth style(O My I am SO gonna be flamed for this!) Really They both convey messages of hate and anger towards the world in the image of black and death. . .That's just what I'm getting from it. . .Please don't hurt me!

No flaming here, I agree with you.

I like emo boys if it's not extreme.
However, if they're wearing tight pants, paint their nails black and hum Ohio Is For Lovers, I could never get along with them.

But I can understand the depressive mode that some of them are in, because I have had depressions in my lifetime, and I understand why they think that way. I've been in emo in the past (not joking), but I'm well over that now.
