EMM now being offered at DHS! Epcot to follow?

If people want to give money to Disney that is none of my business, it's not worth it to me at all, but it does affect the parks on those days as people will already be there, similar to EMH - but probably no where near the volume of people.

People who stay off property might think EMH is not good for the same reasons.

Which is why we always avoided the EMH parks. Now we'll avoid these early morning upsells too but then we avoid DHS lately anyway so I guess that doesn't matter.

We have our one day planned to go to HS on Monday, Aug. 29th and now the crowds will not be as low as I hoped. Why add these extras on so close to people's trip. It's almost like when Disney knows the crowds are not going to be horrendous, they add something on so people have to wait in lines. I would not have made our HS day this day but now have our fp's and dinner adr at Sci-Fi. Getting tired of all the "extras" that Disney wants you to buy. Enough already!

Yes, I believe so, they can go and get on line before they let the rest of the regular crowd in.

I don't see how this is going to affect crowds and lines. It hasn't affected anything at MK.

If it allows people to line up or sign up for JTA early, it will have a much bigger effect than EMM at MK. Our vacation budget is finite. It would cost my family $276 plus tax to go to the EMM events. For the same amount I could add an extra day to our vacation.

They recently extended AK hours during our September trip. Went from 5 or 5:30 to 7:30.

Exactly. There was nothing stopping those same people from booking PPO breakfast reservations or doing RD before. It could be the exact number of people. And not all of the EMM people are going to care about JTA - we don't. So there's 5 people you can cross off your crowd list for September 19th.

I am a huge TSMM fan, and my usual schedule is to do rope drop at DHS every day I am at WDW. But with just one hour extra to ride TSMM, I am just not sure it is worth it for the price. If I have only from 8am-9am to ride and have lots of others have paid for the same "perk", then how many rides on TSMM can I realistically expect to do? Probably 2-3. The meet and greets don't interest me and Star Tours is always walk on early morning.
And I disagree with posters who say that these EMM will not affect regular visitors. Previously, arriving for rope drop and walking quickly to TSMM would yield the same results. I could get 1 ride fairly quickly, and then another ride with a 30 minute wait. Then I would use my FP. Now with EMM, I can hurry over to TSMM only to find a big line already formed. So I have a 30 or 40 minute wait right at rope drop.

I have adjusted my September plans to do the Studios on Tuesday and Thursday where I can do rope drop and get my 3 rides in (FYI, pre FP+, I could get 5 rides every morning)

I highly doubt rope droppers are going to encounter a big line at TSMM when they get in at 9am. By that time, the EMM ticket holders will likely have gotten their fill of TSMM and moved onto something else that is now open when the park opens. Or they will be going to eat their breakfast around then, which is likely what we will do...

That's kind of what we were thinking. Our kids are too small for TOT or RnR, so around 9am we will probably do some Disney Jr meet & greets and then grab breakfast before we head back to the hotel. We were planning to do the rest of the day at the resort and Epcot in the evening. We're staying in a Poly bungalow so we want as much resort time as possible this trip.

Think of the positive aspects of the EMM.

Say there is 150 people that attend the event. That is 150 FPs for TSMM and Star Tours that are freed up for normal guests (as I doubt a family would get a FP for TSMM after riding it unlimited times the first hour).

If they had this when I went to DHS 11 months ago I would have considered it .. We were on a short (2 park day) trip there for my son's third birthday and so time was precious. I would have considered paying the big cost to be more effectively have more time in our day. We only got to ride TSMM, but my son would have loved to ride it multiple times. I would have loved to see more characters than we did (just the Disney Junior ones). With the slow moving of a toddler (and family) .. we just didn't have a lot of time to do "everything" without rushing around all day and exhausting ourselves.

I guess I must be cheap, but there is no way I would spend $70 for 1 hour extra inside a park. Even if I could ride TSMM 3 times in a row and $5 worth of breakfast food, Is that really worth $70? I don't know, I would still never spend that much money for an hour. At least, with the MNSSHP and MVMCP, they run from 4pm to 12pm, so it's a long time. But 1 hour? Sorry, no way.

People are still going to get a TSMM fp because there is really not much else in the park. Maybe when the other lands open that will be true.

Or they'll schedule FP at another park. I think that's the more likely scenario.

I don't see it as expensive at all. We would pay $35-50 each for a breakfast at our resort each day for the 5 of us. And the reviews of the breakfast at MK for EMM have been good. Still think it's worth it.

Do you mean $35-50 for EACH person for breakfast? What are you guys ordering? Just wondering how someone can spend that kind of money at one of the resorts.

Right? Don't forget the ticket to get in too. Considering many think they were charging too much already for a "half day park" it is quite....amazing.

I personally do not quite get the concept of trying to rush and get it over with to race around and get other parks "done". Is it a vacation or a root canal?

LOL. I have to agree with you. We are never at rope drop or rushing around "trying to get everything done". We take our time, sleep in some days, have a nice long breakfast. I never understood the people who say we get to the parks at rope drop and "get a lot done by 11", like once the rides are done, they got something done under their belt. We don't vacation that way, not enjoyable to us but a lot of people do.

I think every family is just different, and families probably like a "go at your own pace" visit. Everyone's preferred pace is different. We have two small girls that are very early risers. We will also be traveling with my parents, who are also very early risers. We've always enjoyed big breakfasts on our trips, so we are prepared to spend the $30 on some character breakfasts (dining plan) and we are very active in our touring wherever we go first thing in the morning. It's just how we are. For us, it doesn't have to do with trying to get everything done by a certain time. We just like to get going early. We like to wrap up a long day with a relaxing supper and an early bed time to be refreshed for the next day.

Also, I am sure that some families with very young children that have never had the experience of waiting in long lines for rides may prefer to hit the lines at the times that they are likely to be "less crowded." I haven't been to wdw in years, and I'm sure that there really isn't a guaranteed "less crowded" time, but I would think that first thing in the morning, or at the latest hours of the evening would be slightly better times for families that would like to avoid the heaviest crowds/longest lines. I'd love to book EMM at the MK for these very reasons! I really hope they extend it in the MK through 2017.

Since the sunsets around 7:00-7:15 in the fall, I'm not sure that means much. I just have never had this much trouble making my plans before.

I think she orders room service. We're the opposite kind of family that just eats in our room.
