Looking to put our itinery together for 21 disney days this august, got all the park hours now but just wandered what people did re EMH, We are staying on site but just wandered if people find because those parks have extra hours they get really busy so are best avoided, or do you make good use of them, we always try for early starts but with 3 children things dont always go to plan - any advice, and any other planning ideas much appreciated:thumbsup2

I'm not too fussed with EMH and I'm not planning things around it, I'm planning around ADR's I can get.

BUT, I will be going in October, before the holidays start, so it shouldn't be too busy. If I get to the park and realise it's an EMH day, I will form a back up plan in my head in case it gets too busy, but I'm not one who really cares if it's EMH or not.

August may be different with the higher crowds though, so can't really comment on the time you're going.

I have never stayed onsite at Disney so come from an offsite point of view. I avoid EMH like the plague as when I have accidentally gone in MK on an EMH evening the crowds are horrendous, lines are extremely long. I tend to go to the park that has had the EMH the day before as all the Disney guests tend to move on to the next EMH park.

However, from reading trip reports the early morning EMH ones seem to be excellent for onsite guests as the parks seem to be quite empty.

We have only done one EMH evening at MK, it was last August, nightmare the park was packed solid, ran out of wrist bands.
I believe morning ones are quieter but not a good experience with evening for us. We might try again this August as parks are closing earlier than last August.

Thanks for your replies, all this planning is driving me nuts!! and still got to try and sort out 21 days of free dining:confused3

We use them as much as possible, particularly at the start of the holiday before we start struugling to get out of bed. Love the morning ones. MK does get crowded for the evening ones but it's a great atmosphere. AK is fantastic at night almost like a new park & not that many go, we went around on Kali 6 times without getting off, great fun getting to know 2 other families, EE was walk on for the last hour. This was August.

evening emh have been a nightmare but the morning ones are great. I dont think many americans get up for those:thumbsup2 You can get on quite a lot of rides in the morning.

The water park morning ones are worthwhile too.

Hardly did the morning EMH (last year),but did evening and didnt find it crowded this was June beginning of July..We take advantage of them but prefer the evenings the girls had naps in the afternoons so would be full of energy in the evening and it isnt as hot as it is in the day.
Have put some morning EMH's on this itinerary for this time.:thumbsup2

Definately recommend waterpark EMH's..:thumbsup2

Don't bother with the morning EMH (can't get up early enough LOL). We did do an Epcot morning EMH once and found it a waste of time really. Only future world opens and the main rides like Test Track, Mission: Space and Soarin' were very busy with Fastpass return times approaching lunch time!

Only other EMH we have done is MK in the evening. If you are prepared to stay late then the crowds do drop off a little as young families leave.

We do the morning EMH, esp at the start of the holiday, we like to get there early and then leave by lunch to relax by the pool. The only eve EMH we do is MK, we did Epcot once and the queues were just ridiculous, the latest we have been able to stay at MK tho is only about midnight as we were shattered!

If we can we always plan a Morning EMH at each park especially at the beginning of the holiday when we are up early anyway. We find it great for getting lots of rides done in a short space of time.

Depending on what park we are in we book a late breakfast or early lunch. After that we then see what the crowds are like and decide wether stay where we are, go over to another park, or back to the pool, etc.

We don't tend to bother with the evening EMH, the few times we have it hasn't been worth it for us, always to busy.

Here's a photo of MK on Easter Sunday during EMH, it was our first morning and after all the horror stories on the DIS about park closures that week I was dreading it. I couldn't have been more wrong. We even walked into Crystal Palace at 10am without an ADR.

Have had hit and miss with evenings....mornings are ace but would then suggest hopping to another park later in the day.

Happy planning.
