EMH question...Are you planning for the changes or not?

I see that Disney is testing out the new EMH times in MAY. I am trying to plan our week (for our trip in the fall
)but if these new times are true it will really throw a wrench in the plan so far. My question is this....Should I plan as though these new EMH changes will or won't happen? I already have a reservation for the Hoop de doo and the Luau and we are now trying to pick a day for MNSSHP. Do these "tests" usually happen? Just wondering.....I may just have to wing it. What is ebveryone else doing?

I feel the same way.
I had our itinerary for July perfect! I had the meals all planned out and everything worked nicely for the right day, at the right park, etc.... Now, I have to wonder, "what if" because I will need to make changes. I played around with our itinerary some and came up with a new itinerary working with the new EMH in case they stick. The tough part is we are currently making PSs for that week. Not only arent the regular park hours out, but not knowing what park we will be at on certain days is making it impossible to plan.
I hope they will let us know soon after the test period whether they are keeping that schedule or not.
Good luck!

Same here. Had the "perfect plan" for July. PSs were made. Do EE then jump to another for dinner. Sadly this leaves us in some of the late open parks if the evening hours become reality. I do not want to be part of the hoard moving into a park in the afternoon. The worst day is MGM open early and late. Maybe that will be the day we bail and go to the water parks, IF we can get in. I'm waiting on pins and needles for the May test to pass and see what happens before I shift all the PSs.

Wow I am glad I am not the only one! i was just sitting here trying to figure out what to do! Does anyone know if Tour Guide Mike has put out anything on his website. I guess that is the next thing I will check. I sure wish I had some sort of guide to point me in the right direction. I have Sehlingers book (which I love!) but I am afraid that book isn't going to be very helpful!

Avoiding the evening crowds sounds great. I guess if you figure what most people would do, they would go to the park that was open late and NOT go there the next day. That's where WE should be on the next day if reverse psychology actually works! LOL. :p

We are going in June and REALLY hoping the new EMH is up and running. Even so, I have two itineraries:Plan A (new EMH) and Plan B (Old EMH). I do hold a few multiple PS right now, but will be adjusting my schedule as soon as Disney decides which EMH to do. I know at least one poster earlier in the week thought that those of us making multiple PS were being "greedy". I disagree, though. This is a trip I am making with a close friend and her two sons. None of them have been to Disney and this will likely be their only trip ever. I am determined to have all the arrangements necessary to make this a perfect trip. I don't want to have to wait until the last minute to scramble for PS and to make alternate plans. I just did the two different plans and then when the decision is made by Disney, I'll cancel what I need to.

TGM does have info about it on his site and says he'll revamp all his best park info if Disney decides to keep it.
I'm excited that I'll be there for the test since I'm only in WDW for 1 day! For my July trip, we're staying longer at an offsite villa... I don't think I'm going to make any PS' yet, if at all.

We are going in May when they are trialing the new hours. I can't see the point of changing all our plans to accomodate them. Besides we probably CAN'T change most PS's at this point anyway. We might miss an hour or so when we are having breakfast at Chef Mickey or maybe we'll get back to MK in time for fireworks the evening we have PS at Ohana. But we'll just have to see how it goes. The way I look at it is ...

I'm not going to get all stressed about it, it's VACATION!!!

I was lucky! All but 1 of my July PS's work with either schedule. Of course the one that has a conflict is the one my DD wants the most, PSB! So, we now have 2 different PS's for PSB ( and 2 deposits charged to my card) When Disney makes up their mind, I will cancel one!

I too have a Plan A and Plan B. Most of my PS's worked out pretty good. Luckily I was still within my 90 days for some of my July PS's when they made the announcement. The only real conflict I would have had is with CRT, but I was able to move it to a day that would not be affected either way.

Initially, I was upset about the change, but now I like my new itinerary better. I hope they do have the new EMH in place when we go in July.:D

I'm another who has 2 schedules. We originally planned for morning only EMHs because we have are just early risers, early to bed type of people. In fact, the main reason we chose to stay onsite this trip was so we could use EMH. When the trial was announced, I did make some new PS, but I will cancel as soon as I know which schedule will be used. On our 2000 trip, I made 3 or 4 PS that we ended up not using. I think that happens a lot -- people make PS that they end up not using due to time or energy constraints. So I'm not feeling guilty about having multiple PS. We only go to Disney every 3-4 years and I want to be sure that we have a great time. Since a big factor in this vacation was EMH, I want to be sure to take advantage of whatever Disney is offering.

I have a Plan A and Plan B for our June trip. Hopefully I will know a couple days before we go so I'll be able to cancel the two double ps that I have.

I think like most people I was a bit  because I had to change my schedule, but I have to say it has made me think a bit harder about my plan. Like some other posters I think my itinerary has improved - even if there is no Extra Magic Hour I think I will stick with my new plan!

We have two plans as well now. But, like some of the other posters have decided we like our new plan much better so will probably stick with it in either case. Hoping for something official this week so we can decide for sure! :hyper:

I'm planning to make a few alternate PS just in case the new schedule holds.

There was a reference to Tour Guide Mike's site that had additional info. Could anyone provide a link?

But, the only 2 PS's I worry about are CRT and Illuminations cruise. Other than that, we will be playing it by ear for meals...

Planned places to eat...

'Ohana's for dinner
'Ohana's for breakfast
Japan for Tepanayaki

I mean, it's Vacation... I can't decide what will be for dinner 60 days out...

We are making changes since we are going during the test period - if they keep the "evening" parks open 2 or 3 hours it will be a worthwhile change - especially for AK lovers such as us!

thanks

Tour Guide Mike has great info! Thanks for letting us know it is there. I just think he is the best!:D He seems to think that this park after dark thing will be stick......I guess we will have to wait and see...........

I love TGM's info, too. He's going to be the guest on Mouseforless' chat Wednesday night BTW.

We arrive on the last day of the "test". I'm working on my back up plan right now in case it's extended. I'm wondering if I need to make extra PS just in case to fit the new schedule and then cancel waht I don't need. I'm hoping TGM will get his best park for am/pm revised and posted soon.

If anyone gets the site listed on the WDW postcard to work, please post.

Thanks!
