OK, this is a question that probably has been answered somewhere else, but I can't seem to find it.

How do the EMH at night work? If the park closes to the general public but is open for 3 more hours at night how do they get the general public out? Do you know what I mean? Does not make much sense to me, so I thought I would ask how it all worked.

TIA

I think you get some kind or wrist band that shows you are entitled to ride. Those without wristbands won't be able to ride, just shop and eat.

That's pretty much it.

Guests eligible for EMH must show their resort ID at any number of stations thoughout the park. A CM will snap a wristband on you (similar to the ones you see at hospitals) and you're all set.

In order to ride after the posted closing time, you must have the wristband and show it to CMs while in line.

Those not staying on-site who are not eligible for EMH will not be herded out of the park. They can still shop, sit on a park bench, or grab something to eat. But they will not be permitted to do any of the park rides without the wristband.

Does anyone know what will be open for our eating and drinking pleasure at each park durring these hours?

We just came home one week ago. We went to MK for EMH. We were at the park in the afternoon, and they had started to put signs up at various places in the park that indicated you could get your wristbands at that location(you need to show your room key to get one, each person's in your party, so don't forget your children's room keys). We were able to get our wristbands at about 3PM, before we left for an afternoon break. We returned around 6PM(the park was open to general public until 7PM). After 7PM, you were asked to show your wristband before you were able to get on any ride.

So are the EMH ONLY for Disney guests??

If not, how would someone who WASN'T staying on Disney property get a wristband.

Trying to decide between the Hampton Inn (for $65.00) vs the Disney All Star Movie ($100.00) for our 1 night. We have 1 day left on our Hopper passes.

Just wondering if it's worth the extra $35.00 for the extended hours or if we can still stay at the Hampton Inn and somehow get wristbands.

Also, when the normal hours are 9:00 PM, how much longer does the park stay open? The site says UP to 3 hours.

Do they really keep the park open until 12:00 midnight???

Why would the park be any busier during the day during EMH if non-Disney guests can't ride? You'd think Disney guests with Hopper passes would stay away those days?

I had similar questions, so I looked it up since we'd never used EMH. This is what I found on www.allearsnet.com:

EXTRA MAGIC HOUR, a program that allows you to visit a particular theme park on a designated day beyond regularly scheduled operating hours, is offered ONLY to guests staying at:

-- Walt Disney World-owned resorts
-- Walt Disney World Dolphin & Swan Resorts
-- Shades of Green
-- Hilton Resort at Downtown Disney

NOTE: Beginning January 2, 2005, a NEW Extra Magic Hour program, with both morning and evening extended hours, was launched. This coincided with the introduction of the new "MAGIC YOUR WAY" ticket program.

so EMH is only for Disney resort guests. If you stayed at Hampton Inn, you wouldn't be able to get a wristband b/c you need a Disney resort room key to get one. hope that helped! :)

It stays open 3 hours later. On Wednesday 2/23, MK regular closing was midnight, they stayed open until 3:00am!

I was at MK on 3/2 and it was very crowded at regular park closing. They did check carefully for the wristbands. You are better off getting your wristbands in the park rather than at the gate, there was a long line there.

So another question....

If you are a park guest, and the park closes at, say, 7:00, can you come and get your wristband at 8 or 9? Or, do you have to get the wristband during normal park hours?

If you come after regular closing time, you will need to show resort ID at the turnstile and they will give you the wristband there.

Bumping this up...

I would also like to know what is open during those EMH nights...as far as food and shopping goes. Are the shops/restaurants/carts open?

Oh its good to see that they are making the wrist bands available around 3pm. I am planning a tour of Mk on one morning and that same day its emh evening for Mk.

So, can you only get your wristband at the park that is open? For example, we thought of staying all day and MK then when it closes go to the EMH at Epcot. Other threads made me think I had to be in the EMH park before it closes to the general public. You are sure that I can get in after regular hours. I am staying onsite. Thanks!

You will only be able to get your wristband at the park that has the EMH that day, but you will be able to get the wristband even if you get to that park after EMH has begun. You will have to show resort id at the turnstiles and get your wristband there.
