EMH crowds & wristbands?

We are trying to get an idea of what parks we'd like to do which days (even though we don't know the park hours yet) for our trip Dec 4-11th. We're doing this because we can make our ADR's on MONDAY!! :cool1:

Anyway...since we've never experienced an evening EMH - what is it like crowd wise? I think I read here that MK's evening EMH is packed? How does it compare to daytime crowds? Are all evening EMH's really busy?

We've never been to WDW in December either, which is supposedly low crowds (not holding our breath ;)). So maybe both daytime & EMH won't be bad.

ALSO - how do you get your wristbands? Do you have to pick them up at the park with the evening EMH? Can you get them anywhere else if you won't be at that park during the day? How late can you get the wristbands?

Thanks for any & all info! :wave2:

I think the EMH run with the seasons. We were down in June and the EMH were very crowded. Of course June is a busy time there. Also it seemed like they were working kinks out of the program. Twice the parks we went to ran out of wrist bands.

WHen we were there 2 weeks ago, they were not crowded at all and they really seemed to have a system going. They were also scanning room keys for every one in our party. It was the end of August and there was also a noticable difference in crowd sizes during regular hours.

We really enjoyed the Evening Magic Hours very much, especially since we are NOT morning people.

These are great questions Kim!!

I too would love to hear about how early can you get the wristbands?

Sorry, I missed these questions. You get the wristbands at the parks. They will have several spots throughout available where you can line up and get them. There is no wristbands for the morning hours because if you don't have a room key, you just don't get in. I am not sure how late you can get them, but I would think pretty late, because they would have to let you into the park until pretty close to closing.

You can only get them at the parks and you can also only get the schedules for the extra hours at the parks as far as I know. I asked at the resort and no one had a schedule and they just said get it at the park. I also asked at the parks earlier in the day and all I got was that you can get the schedule when you get the wristband. The schedule is good to get because not everything is available during the extra hours. For example when we went to Animal Kingdom, there was only 1 Lion King showing and one Tarzon Rocks showing. At MGM they ended up having 2 Fantasmic shows. We thought maybe they would have the Spectro parade at the Magic Kingdom, because it was not a regularly scheduled night but since they had had the extra Fantastmic show at MGM. They did not. One thing to remember is that they will say the park closes at 9:00 with EMH from 9-12, but Wishes or Fantasmic is also at 9:00, and the general public is there for those.

We'll be there the exact same days -- and we're from your neck of the woods. We live in Medford, what about you?

Hi Wendy!!! We're from Galloway (about 10 minutes outside of AC). Where are you staying at WDW?

Just got back and last night (9/4) went to evening EMH at MGM. I hadn't planned on it since from what I had read on here it is really hit or miss - but I had some time on my hands and headed over from the beach club.

EMH was from 8:30 to 11:30 - I got there at 10:30pm - and wished I hadn't gone. Getting a wristband wasn't too bad - a bit disorderly, but there weren't swarms of people getting them at that time. The CMs were off to the left swiping cards and handing them out.

I immediately headed to RnR - 45 minute wait! and ToT was 70 minutes! Quite the switch from wednesday (8/31) when I walked on to both!

Went and did some shopping instead.

I probably won't do an evening EMH again. I'd rather be there right at park opening, really makes a difference those first couple hours!

I grew up near LBI (Manahawkin) -- just a bit north of you.

We'll be at POFQ...you?
