EMH after HEA ~ what to do in that "extra" time?

The day I am going to MK in January, MK has HEA scheduled for 8:00. There is also extra magic hours from 8-10pm. Is that really enough extra time to do anything? Will I be able to get much done? I've never attended evening EMH, and I'm honestly surprised they would even bother. I mean, HEA is officially 18 minutes long, but with the crowd and all, it's not like we could even get out of the park much sooner than 8:30-8:45pm even if we wanted to get out as fast as possible.

Am I missing something? How can I best utilize that time?

The park won't really empty out with that early of an EMH, but that's not a reason to skip it. You might as well stay through the end of the evening and enjoy whatever you can.

There's plenty of time to get things done! Park closing at 10:00 doesn't mean the park empties at 10:00. You could jump in a two hour queue at 9:59. Even if you just get one or two things done after HEA, that seems like a much better use of that time than following the crowds out the front gates and standing in crowded bus/monorail/ferry lines. It's much more pleasant leaving the park once the HEA crowd empties out.
