PLEASE SAVE TOBY!
My friend, Tina has a sweet and loving yellow lab named Toby. He's 2 years old and in good health with the exception of 2 recent minor wounds. (read below)
Recently, due to a change in living conditions, they had to give the dog up to the animal control in Liberty county, GA - they thought that they were giving it to the humane society.
The next day, when I heard that they had been unable to find Toby a home and were forced to take him to the animal control, I immediately told them to get the dog back and that I would find him a home. Especially since they had told her that he would only have 3 days before they put him down.
The following day, her boyfriend (Joe) went into the shelter with pictures of the dog, and one of his toys and claimed that he had lost his dog. He went in and there was Toby... but not in the same condition that he had been when Tina took him in just 2 days before. He now had a gapping sore on one of his legs and his face had blood on it. When Joe saw Toby in the pin, he called for him. Toby was so excited and ran towards the gate. The the other 4 dogs that were in the pin with him, including a pit bull vicously attacked him. The attendant went into the pin to "break it up" and started hit and kicking the dogs violently.
Joe was outraged and demanded his dog back. The man told him that it would be a $30 fee. Joe didn't have ANY money on him and since it was Saturday the bank was already closed. So, he begged. The man still refused, but told him that if he would come back the following morning, with the money, he would be able to save his life.
Joe is going on Sunday morning to rescue Toby. However, after then, his fate is uncertain. Money is tight for them, and they cannot keep him at their house.
Where we live, technically we aren't allowed animals. But, we will be willing to take the risk and keep it for one night, since we realize that most places are not open on Sunday.
However, we must find Toby a temporary home or a good shelter or something by Monday afternoon at the latest.
If you know of anyone that who would love to have a sweet, and gentle yellow lab who needs a good home, please let me know as soon as possible.
Email me at theatrebum20@yahoo.com. I can give you my number at that time. The dog is located in the Savannah, Georgia area.
I thank you all for your time and hope someone out their can help.
