We just had a real one. Never heard a real one before.

It's because of the ice storm we had and many people (like over 400,000) may not have power for days and to seek out shelters.
I'm one of the lucky ones that have power because of my proximity to state offices, the national guard, municipal airport and nursing home. My mom, sister and 2 brothers have none. :sad1: I offered for them to stay here but they are going to see what happens. If nothing else they'll come over for some hot showers. It's a real mess out there.

Glad to hear you have power. We don't (no surprise, since we live in the boondocks). At this rate I'm thinking we won't have power until AT LEAST Monday and it is kind of scary. Our house was at 52 degrees when we left this morning to head to my Mother's. We brought the guinea pigs with us, but left the kitty behind. I figured she would be okay for now and would be happy to avoid the 2 hour trip (which turned into a three hour trip because there were so many closed roads, especially in New Boston). But I'll have to go retrieve her if the heat isn't on by Monday. I predict the house will be in the 40's by tomorrow. Let's pray for some sun. A nice sunny day usually brings up the temp at least a few degrees.

We were going to head to the Mall of NH yesterday, but when I called they said only a few stores had power and the food court did not. We mostly wanted a warm lunch, so we found a place in Bedford to eat. Every fast food place we passed in Goffstown was PACKED!!

My daughter did have swim practice, so DS and I showered at the Y last night. At least we can head there later in the week to keep clean if the power is still out! Best use of my membership ever!

Glad to hear your well.... bet you can't wait for the move south now!...................P

I think we really lucked out this time! We didn't lose power at all! In fact DH works for Metrocast Cable in the Lakes Region and he said only 30% of customers were out. In Rochester I think he said it was 60%.

Being without power can be miserable. Good luck & be safe.:)

It's good you're in an area where it's still on! Hope the sun is out tomorrow and things melt.

Someone once told me it's good to live around a hospital. If they lose power and have the generators go on, you know they'll be one of the first places where power is restored.

Not even sure we have an emergency system like that. We had a horrid ice storm this week, and we lost power for 22 hours. We were frozen, and were almost about to hook up the generator when it came on. Stupid thing here was there was NO school cancellations :sad2: . I kept mine home, and was glad I did. Was downright dangerous.

I hope power is restored in your area, and your family is all right. Stay safe C.:grouphug:
