We have an opportunity to stay in either a 3bed (4th floor w/ view of lake) condo at Windsor Hills or a Townhouse at Emerald Isle? Both are reasonably priced (except townhouse is about $100 cheaper), Both have everything we need. I'm just torn as to which we should book.

We'll be there early December and it will be myself, dh and our 2 year old.

Any thoughts?? Help me choose! Thanks in advance!

For your 2 yr old, Windsor Hills does have a zero entry pool area so that he/she can just wade in like at the beach. There's also a fountain splash area on the pool deck that he would like. There's a big castle playground with lots of slides and places to crawl and climb at WH. With the condo all the rooms will be on the same level whereas the townhouse has an upstairs. Don't know if that matters or not.

Both are beautiful resorts. Seeing you will be using the common areas I agree with sympatico. Having a 2 YO who will want to do things by themself zero entry is great. EI has stairs that would be ok but truly the zero entry has to win in this case JMHO.

If you are not going to use the pool much I would go with as close to the car and home as possible.

The Emerald Island pool is OK for 2 year olds with the stairs, my kids loved it.

I stayed at www.orlando-rental-home.com it was really lovely and very close to the pool and clubhouse, the owners were great to deal with and I am hoping to stay there again in October.

Oh, we were also worried about the stairs with our toddler but the one we stayed in had stair gates top and bottom.

OP is going in December.....isn't it too cold to swim in December?? We've been looking for a place for Nov/Dec and have not considered a pool to be any plus because I thought it'd be too cold to use, is that not true?

We've stayed at Emerald Island three times, twice at the Emerald Hunny Pot (emeraldhunnypot.com) and once at a townhouse. It was nice, very convenient and a good deal. The house we stayed in had everything from strollers to highchairs to pack-n-play, which was perfect. The townhouse didn't, but I know each one is different. We decided to stay on-site last year and we are hooked not, but I would certainly consider Emerald Island again. Just a tip -- if you have AAA, see if you can get the parking pass for the parks. It really helps to get you closer to the action.

I cannot speak for other resorts but the pool at Emerald Island was like a hot bath when we went so I suspect it will be heated in the winter as well.

The community pools at EI are heated in the winter.

Go for the home that works best for you. If both places are similar in what they offer, and saving $100 works for you, do it. I find we personally rarely use the amenities in the communities we stay at so they are not as important to us.

December is a nice time to visit the parks with younger kids.

We've gone in Nov, Jan, Feb, Mar. etc and always go swimming. Weather varies from day to day but if you have a nice heated pool it doesn't matter. We usually have a pool home and you're only a few steps from your patio doors. Most of the time from noon till 4pm or so even if the day isn't hot it's still warm enough for swimming. We even go to water parks when we're there. And don't say " You must be from Canada" . I've heard it all before.:rotfl:
