Now that I've "been upgraded" to Executive level, I'm finding that I don't quite know what it means. I understand that if I decide on a higher level car that I will pay for one class lower. But if I don't want to do that, what does Executive status get me? Does it mean if I still book a midsize that I can either pick a car from the Emerald Aisle or the Executive Aisle?

This is EXACTLY what I am curious about. Right now, we have a mini van reserved, there are 5 of us plus luggage. Also, this was reserved before we upgraded to Exec. level. Do I need to change the ressie? Do I book something smaller and then pick a minivan? :confused3 I'm confused because it says you pay for 1 class smaller than your rental, but what do we reserve?

Sorry, I'm new to this!!:upsidedow

from the emerald club website:
Service Benefits
All the benefits of Emerald Club, PLUS Executive Selection:
Counter bypass area with Fullsize or larger vehicles.
Requires a fullsize reservation, but you pay the Midsize rate.

Executive Upgrade:
For non-Executive Selection rentals, reserve a Fullsize, Premium or Luxury car and pay one car class less every time.

So you won't get a break on your minivan. Sorry!

So exec. level can never get a minivan and pay 1 class lower?:confused3

I've been an Executive member for 3 years. I'll try to help;

First, when you book your rental, choose full size, not intermediate. It may show a higher rate, but once you choose it, it will show the same price as an intermediate car.

When you go to get your car you can choose from a special Executive Aisle, which will have full size or larger cars only. You are guaranteed a full size car.

You can choose from the Executive Aisle, but you can also choose from the Emerald Aisle, so your choices are better.

Instead of needing 7 credits for a free day, you only need 6 credits.

IF you don't meet the guidelines by the end of the year (40 rental days) you will drop back down to Emerald Aisle and your account will be changed and another new card will be sent to you.

For the poster who asked if they need to book under Executive Aisle, yes, your confirmation will actually say Executive Aisle. If it does not, you will need to go to the counter because there may be issues when you try to leave the garage. You could try calling to see if they can add it to your reservation.

The hang tag on the mirror will say EXECUTIVE not Emerald, this way only Executive members can select these cars.

For the poster who asked about the minivan. Getting a minivan is always a gamble, but as an Exec. Aisle member, your choices are twice as good that you might get one. If you NEED one you still have to use Emerald Reserve.

Thanks, n2mm!! That is very helpful!!:thumbsup2

Now in your experience, can you tell me if we are coming in on a Wed. evening about 8pm (early June), what are the chances of getting that minivan?? BTW, this will be in Tampa. I know your not psychic ;) , but if you do have any insight, I'd appreciate it!!

Thanks!!:goodvibes :flower3: :goodvibes

One thing that I can say for the 2 aisles is that there is no rhyme or reason. Our last 2 visits (Feb 08 and Oct 07) there were hardly anything on either aisle. However, I always take a look when dropping off at the end of my stay and both times both aisles were filled with a variety. I've only managed a minivan once and that is with 10+ years using the aisle, sorry. I have managed alot of SUVs and alot of Impalas. Good luck. We are hoping for a minivan on our next trip as we have relatives arriving later, but we have them renting their own car in case there is not one available. There is a thread where people who recently rent from the aisle will post what they find. Have you taken a look at that.

Thanks for clearing it all up for me, n2mm!!

I think I'll just keep my reservation for the minivan. :)

Maybe next time we'll chance it.

n2mm, Can you give some examples of the cars you have found on the Executive Aisle? Is there ever anything other than regular full size cars (Impala or similar)?

I've driven away with a Volvo a couple times at MCO, but only because I didn't want a big car. The exec. side was always full of small SUVs, but I'd rather take the mileage, thanks.

DO NOT USE THE AISLE to get a cheap minivan! National at MCO is on to you! ;)

Now, of course, here in St. Louis, you could pull a minivan 9 out of 10 times on the aisle, let alone exec!

Generally you'll find full size or larger. We usually end up with a premium or specialty car. We had a magnum once. Sometimes it's full size cars, but they are loaded with dual controls and heated seats (not something you always need in Orlando, except in January) and all of the extras. Take a look at national's website to see what is listed under their premium cars. Often SUVs. We will be choosing a car next weekend.

I am an Emerald Aisle member, and would like to know how to get upgraded to Executive level. I have a reservation for December, but it tells me to go to the counter? :confused3 I have all my info in the computer so what goes? :confused3 Thank you

Bob

Are you using some kind of car class upgrade coupon? Those always force a counter visit.

One other quick question about Executive service. Where is it located at MCO? Is it the furthest row from where you enter the garage? Just curious...

Nope, no coupon just the "57" code so far. It says I need to fill in my personal information, but I already had done that....:confused3 . I jus wanna know how to get upgraded to executive level. tanx!

To get upgraded to Executive, you need to rent at least 40 days a year...

The other thing I have found is if you don't have a valid credit card on file in your profile, that also forces counter level.

.....got a valid card too......don't know why it STILL says counter....:confused3

I thought there was a way to get Executive without the 40 days a year rental, sorry..............
