Whil I really do like just "walking out, getting in and driving away" How's the new Emerald Counter work? Is there a greater possibility of getting a comp upgrade? While I realize you don't pick you car, how has anyone made out vs. emerald Club or Emerald Reserve?

I read that there's new Reserved window at the counter for Emerald Aisle members that's supposed to be quicker than standing the the regular lines.

From their website....

Thanks for the info. I use EC to avoid the lines, :) but, it nice to know it is there should I have a coupon that requires counter.

:Pinkbounc Bumping. I have the same question. We arrive at 10:30 pm in October and I'm wondering if I should keep my Intermediate with Emerald Aisle or go for a full size for $13 more (for 9 days) where I'll have to use Emerald Reserve. I'd rather the larger car but not if it takes a lot longer to get everything done. TIA

With Emerald Reserve, you can still skip the counter and go directly to the garage. I'm not really sure what the Emerald Counter Service is for, I guess in case you have some kind of problem.

Thanks Debbie...what's the difference then between Emerald Aisle and Emerald Reserve?

With Emerald Aisle, you reserve intermediate and pick from the rows marked Emerald Aisle. There are sometimes upgrades on the Aisle, such as full sizes or SUVs. If they are on the Emerald Aisle, you can take them and still pay intermediate. But there is no guarantee there will be anything bigger than an intermediate.

With Emerald Reserve, you reserve the size you want, such as full size or a van, and go to the size row you reserved. You cannot use the Emerald Aisle row. Checkout is the same as Emerald Aisle.

If you absolutely need a full size, I would pay the difference and use Emerald Reserve. If you can get by with an intermediate, then do EA and take a chance there might be something bigger. There's a thread on this board with EA reports.

Thanks Debbie...I went with the full size. For an extra $13 it's worth it. My neighbor & her DD might be joining us so we'll need the extra luggage space. :)

Or....if you have an upgrade coupon. Everytime I have tried to use upgrade in a reservation it bumps me to counter service.

Darn...I have a DC coupon. :( I made the original reservation for EA back in May ($190 taxes included for an Intermediate) but changed it today to a Full-size for $203 (taxes included) for 9 days. :) Do you think it'll be busy at the counter at 10:30 pm on a Friday night in October?

My coupon is not for an upgrade & I just looked at my new confirmation & it says Emerald Reserve so I'll keep my fingers crossed. :)
