Emerald Aisle at LAX

For those of you that have used the Emerald Aisle at LAX can I ask how the selection is?

We always use it when we go to Orlando and have done fine, but we will be doing a lot of driving in California and I am wondering if I should take the chance with Emerald Aisle or just book a bigger car for peace of mind.
