Embroidery machine?

Wondering if there is a time of year when the price of embroidery machines drop?

Or places to look to get a discount. The annoying part is they don't seem to list prices online

Thinking about upgrading to one that has an area that is close to11"x17"
I have one that does a 4x4" area that is a brother brand.

I was in Brandsmart yesterday, I noticed that they had a whole aisle of sewing machines and embroidery machines, I really did not take good look. So I can't say on the price.

On another note I have a friend that has a sewing business, and she has picked up some of her equipment at estate sales. Everything from fabric, notions, & equipment. In January we were hitting some estate sales she bought an embroidery machine plus the fancy cabinet that went with it for I think around 300.00 dollar, but if she would have bought it new it would have been 700.00 to 1000.00 dollars, plus she got all kinds of stuff that went with it. She was over the moon. They did let her turn it on and try it. She said it was a bargain. Also an auction might be a great place to pick one up.

I don't know about stores or on-line, but I was also going to suggest estate sales/garage sales like the PP. We found DMIL's Husqvarna embroidery machine at a garage sale for $50 - retail was close about $900! It was brand new in the box! She has made so many things and has been thrilled with the machine.

If you can go to a major quilting show (like AQS) all the machine dealers will be there and have special show pricing.

Sewing machine dealers will often negotiate on their prices as well. I got my embroidery module 'free' with my machine. It normally cost an extra thousand or so.
