Did anyone else get stuck in the horrible parking traffic jam around 3pm yesterday? I realize the Trump rally and protest was part of the situation, but I think Disney could have handled the traffic better.

I arrived at the resort around 9am and since I was heading from the South I headed straight to Toy Story. I would greatly prefer to park in Mickey and Friends, but ime it's impossible to park there unless you arrive before opening. I hate getting diverted back to Toy Story from M&F. This is my general complaint number 1, and I still don't have a handle on how best to get to Toy Story from the freeway. The lights at Harbor and Disney Way and Harbor and Katella take forever.

Complaint number 2 - I exited DCA around 2:45 and headed to the TS buses. Harbor blvd was closed but the bus did it's usual route down Disney Way to Clementine and into the lot. We made it to the Jessie stop and to our car. I noticed they were diverting traffic to the cast member lot and not onto Harbor as usual. The traffic seemed slow. We got going and were moving in a slow line through the lot between Buzz Lightyear and Bambi (I'm not sure the name). At one point we were totally stopped for a good 5-10 minutes. Buses seemed to be getting through so I'm not sure why were stopped. Finally they snaked us through into Bambi. I was hoping they would send us out the exit facing Katella so I could turn right and get to the freeway. AFAI could tell Katella was open there. Instead they sent us out the exit facing Haster (a small street parallel to Harbor). Traffic was crawling on this street due to the diversions and due to a fender bender on Haster. People were being less than courteous about people merging to turn left at Orangewood to get to the freeway. I finally got to the freeway by around 3:45! I want to know why they wouldn't let us exit on Katella? I know we've exited that way before.

Thanks for letting me vent, and if you have a guest relations email address for me to talk to I'd appreciate it!

Since the Anaheim PD was in charge of this, and not Disney, here is the contact info. http://www.anaheim.net/2551/Contact-Us

I still want to complain about not being able to park in Mickey and Friends and the fact they did not send us out on Katella, even though there were cars travelling on that street. It was a horrible experience all around. I find parking to be a major source of annoyance every time I travel to the resort.

Anaheim PD also controls the flow of traffic into M&F. When it's closed 9 times out of 10, that's Anaheim PD, not Disney. There's a feedback form on the Disney site, they will respond by email.

Your post reflects what I have observed over the past few years; On a person to person level Disney is very friendly and accommodating. But when it comes to crowds they are removed and disrespectful of the fact that these are people. They treat the masses like cattle without regard to their comfort or time.

I drive up from the south also, and I have figured out how to park at M&F almost every time.

Take 5 north to LINCOLN AVE. Turn left at the exit ramp. Make the first left, onto Manchester Ave. Follow that road until you see the ramp that leads up into M&F. You will see little green arrows indicating that it's open. It is almost ALWAYS open. I have been using this route for the past 6 months at least and I've parked in M&F every time. I never arrive before opening. It even works in the middle of the afternoon on weekends!

The traffic management situation is 100% in the hands of Anahiem PD. And they do a crappy job of it.

Maybe. But the route that Disney allows through its property to the other lots is what really frustrates people. Being diverted wouldn't phase most people if it took 5-10 minutes and not 30 or more.

I'm curious, can you really get from one lot to another lot without leaving Disney property? I really didn't think so.

No. But the route passes across the property. I don't think there's a way around it. If they sent everyone down Harbor, Harbor wouldn't move. What they need is a different overflow lot, really.

Well, they are building another structure.

None of the traffic diversion is controlled by Disney. ALL of the roads are public city streets.

Any time there is a huge special event (aka presidential rallies, which also have a huge security component), the traffic will be both ridiculous and inconvenient. Patience is the order of the day if you travel during the thick of it. That being said, I am sure both Disney and the PD heard plenty of complaints, so there is nothing that keeps you from adding your thoughts. Everyone I know skipped the area.

I was there Wed morning as well. There was no reason that M&F should have been closed. It took me 75 minutes from the time I exited the freeway until we were inside the park. Not only was traffic terrible but there were not enough buses running and the security lines were horrible. It was NOT a magical experience and everyone was frustrated. This was in the morning and there was no Trump traffic at that hour.

Disney is not doing a good job of managing the traffic and crowds that have been at the parks since the Diamond celebration began. Makes me want to shred my AP.

All the complaining in the world isn't going to change a thing. It may make YOU feel better, but it's useless.

Agree about shredding the AP. The crowd management is just horrible. We always stay on site so we don't deal with the parking but the next time we are offsite, I will be taking a cab from the hotel to Disney if it is not walkable.

Except Disney doesn't get a say in when M&F has to be closed for traffic. Anaheim PD dictates that, and they make the decision to open it back up.

Weren't all the annual passes valid this week, as well? I think it was just the perfect storm. Good weather, political rallies and thousands of people with the same idea of going into the park. I would be frustrated too, but it isn't the norm.

We were diverted from M&F by a cast member, not by Anaheim police.

The Anaheim PD tells the cast members what to do when it comes to the parking structure or diverting people to Toy Story or other parking areas. They just do what they are told.

Yes, but just like how Disney announces the fireworks are cancelled, it is the Anaheim Fire Marshall that stops the show. Yes, the cast member is directed by the Anaheim PD. The PD is responsible for all traffic flow, including entrances and exits from parking lots.
