Okay everyone, I have one for you. This morning at my home email address I recieved this email:

Congratulations; "my husbands name"You have won a trip to Disney! Sometime ago you signed up at one of our free offer giveaway sites. This email is to notify you that when you submitted the following information: "our email address" my husbands name"our address"United States "our cell number-twice""ip number"You have won an all expense paid trip for two to Disney. Please update your information at the winner's site and we will promptly ship out your Disney tickets.
Thanks, Sue Madden
Travel Getaways, Inc.
They added a link to the email (i am not sure if it is a virus or not so I didn't attach it) On the attachment they ask for your address phone DOB and email address.

Am I being paranoid? Does this sound like a scam to anyone? :confused3 Any comments?

I did a Google search for "travel getaways" inc. and it directed me to the Disboards and a post from 2007. How funny is that? Anyway, it looked like a scam then and it probably still is now. I'd delete it and move on.

It is a scam... Not only do they do Disney, but other places as well. It also means that you might have a tracking cookie on your computer giving them this information. I would run anti-virus as well as spyware.

AVG Antivirus

Its a free anti-virus program that updates daily. Better than Norton in my opinion.

Adaware link

Spyware program that is also free that will find all the spyware on your computer.

Both the utilities are free for personal use, and I recommend them to everyone that I know.

Hope that helps. :thumbsup2

I don't think I would click on it either. If it's something real it's most likely like the mailings timeshares send out. There is if real a lot of fine print. I also have had phone messages like this.

OP - if they had your name address and cell numbers, chances are one of you entered one of those 'free drawing things' at malls or other places.

In any case, it's no free lunch. You'll get scammed having to pay up 'processing fees' and will either end up having to attend a timeshare deal, or worse, a fly by night operation and you're deposit gone.
