Elsa and Anna meet & greet: how long did you wait in line?

We were there on Monday 2/24. Gates opened at 8:50. We were pretty far back at rope drop. Dh waited 2 hours.

Oh wow, I had no idea it would be so difficult. I had assumed it would be similar to the Rapunzel and Flynn M&G I ran for back in 2011, but I hadn't factored Akershus breakfast guests in to it!
Not sure what to do now, we've used all our ADRs and it will be too late to find a May breakfast now I'm sure. I just read snippets of this thread out to my husband who thinks it would put a downer on our vacation, so I'm not sure we will do it, but we won't be able to go back when popularity dwindles a little as this vacation is our last chance.

Don't stop looking for an ADR! I have been watching for weeks and just found an open 8:00 am ADR for a day first week in May. I had to shuffle another am breakfast but it was worth it for us bc DD 1 thing this visit is that M&G!!

I'm really debating this. We have such fab ADRs though and I'm not sure I can part with any, and I can't afford to pay for one OOP. We do have an Akershus dinner booked though, so I guess if I managed it we would drop that. Chances of finding an early res for a family of 7 in May though?!

We also had a lunch Ask ADR and I ended up switching to a breakfast on the day I had a breakfast o'hana ADR. And I moved the O'hana ADR to our original Epcot day. Our O'hana is at 7:50 so we will still get to Epcot close to rope drop... I hope lol We will FP soaring and get to TT as fast as we can. I would say keep looking and don't give up hope! Lol I got ours for a party of 4 on May 11th.

Yikes.
I just thought I'd take a look and there was an 8am slot on our last full day there - I took it  I kept telling myself I can ditch it if needed! :haha:

So, what do I need to think of now? What time should we arrive? Will we stand a chance of being seated before 8?

Most importantly - Will this spoil our meal? I now need to get rid of our Akershus dinner to make way for this one. We do really want to meet Anna and Elsa, but I don't want a wasted meal experience either, because we are hurrying through it to get in a line.

Feb 3, I was first in line - my spouse and child ate at Akershus, and I was on line at 8:45. They joined me after, doors opened at 11, and the cast members kept the line moving very quickly. The interaction was great though, my daughter got to ask what Olaf's hugs felt like, where they slept at night, if they got to socialize with the other princesses since Epcot is boring, etc.

Last Tuesday, Feb 18, it was extra magic morning at Epcot so we arrived a little before 8am. Since the week before and that past weekend had the meet n greet open a 9am, we assumed there would be an hour wait. DH runs ahead and gets in line, about the 10th family from the front. A few minutes before 9am, a cast member comes out and says sorry for the confusion but last week they were just testing a 9am start time and now it is back to 11am…..I wasn’t happy and I said I wasn’t going to wait any longer than an hour.

I ended up waiting the 3 hours. Once it opened at 11am, it didn’t take long for us to get to the front of the line. I did it for DD6 and didn’t really mind. I had a great group of guys to talk to. I sent DD and DH off to ride some rides, although it ended up where she wanted to go shopping for an Anna and Elsa dress which they discovered was sold out everywhere.

WOW!!! May be having boys is not such a bad thing after all!!! Looks like I will just have to see them by passing when we watch the parade at MK.

My friend took her DD to meet Elsa and Anna last week and she waited in line for 4 hours. Just wondering how long you waited in line? Anyone on here lucky enough to wait for less than 30 minutes?
Did it on Super Bowl Sunday & ate at Akershaus (actually was able to eat quickly while husband & kids took more time). Left around 8:45 & was first in line but at that time they didn't start until 11am. When 9am hit the masses came from main park entrance & by 9:30am line was already closed for 11am-noon showing. I am not sure how else to do it but honestly was not that bad. Talked to people around &

Got to the park at 740 with a breakfast reservation for two

We were out by 915. So about an hour and a half wait, even for the front of the line.

Wow and that's the shortest possible wait. Our friend waited 3 hours with DD who loved it, but was really sick of waiting. Still worth it for her after all though.

They should build ques so once you enter you "proceed" to the right or left, but secretly 2 sets (or more) of sisters are inside. :goodvibes

We met them before the movie was in the theaters. Waited about 20 minutes.

On Super Bowl Sun did what others said - breakfast at Askerhaus & had enough time to eat. Left at 8:45 & literally was first in line. They didn't start until 11am then so it was a 2 he wait. However when the park opened at 9 the masses came & by 9:20 they closed the line for the 11-12pm showing. My husband & kids leisurely finished breakfast, went to Future World for a bit & came back & got right in line. The wait for me wasn't bad bc I talked to others etc. if you have someone else going, I would highly recommend doing that. Askerhaus breakfast was good too. When we got done seeing them at 11:15 the line was already 3 hrs long. I haven't heard anyone waiting less than 1.5 hrs and that was someone who just caught it right.

Both my DD love frozen. Big fans! We did not get morning reservations for dinning because it sold out. We have to wait at the gate! It will be the end of May when we go. If we get there 1hour before open and rush back there are we still looking at a 1 hour wait or longer?

Considering there are probably at least 5 sets of Mickey and Minnie between the different parks and restaurants what they need to initially do is have them at both MK and Epcot. As has been stated it is hard to understand how Disney got so caught off-guard on this but what seems even worse is that the situation has been going on for 2 months now and still there haven't been any real changes (I don't consider changing from 9am to 11am and back a "real" change).

Keep trying to get a reservation. I got one for 8:20 on 4/26 about a week ago, when, previously, the only things available had been after 10:00.

If I get a 8:20am. Do I have enough time to eat then get in line or would I have to skip the meal?

Yep or even include MK, I just meant if it's "only" at EPCOT it seems more "real" I suppose, but having more hidden inside one larger que-how would anyone even know? Unless they came out with pictures and compared. :)

Overall what a great thing/problem for Disney in general though. The magic continues. :wizard:

Is there a best time to search for reservations if none are available in the 8am window or is it simply luck that you hit it right after somebody else cancels their's? In other words, does Disney update their database at a certain time of day?
