Ellen's Energy Adventure

I'm 16 years old and I love Ellen's Energy Adventure! we discovered it for the first time in May, I loved it, while my touring buddies who are 17 and 18 fell asleep! Haha. It is 45 minutes long, but its all in the AC and only 8 minutes of it is standing! Its pretty interesting and I appreciate it because of who's in it haha. I grew up with Bill Nye the Science Guy and I love Ellen Degeneres so finding that ride really made my day! I like the dinosaur animatronics, they aren't scary like the ones on Dinosaur (Yeah, Dinosaur scared the crud outta me)

My main problem with EEA is that not only is it 45 minutes long, but you are trapped on that ride until it is over. No way out for potty emergencies or anything else that may happen. I get clausterphobic, and there is no way I could get on that ride, knowing there was no way off!

I went on it for the first time this past February. Since it is a really long ride it was a tight squeeze with our Akershus ADR, but it was WELL worth it!
We really enjoyed it.

It's a great use of time if you want to stay in Future World while you wait for your Fastpass time for Soarin' or Test Track!

I love this ride! Personally think it's fantastic!

However, I once misguidedly forgot how LONG this ride is, and went in without visiting the bathroom first!!

Those last 10 minutes were excruciating! :headache: I would highly recommend a potty break first!

Some people love it, some people hate it.

Tell me about it, I've been to Epcot a bunch of times in the past but have never done this attraction (it was closed March '09 when were there).

Would my DD8 and DS6 enjoy it as well?

:tink:
We like it. It takes about 35 minutes and you pass through some pretty cool animated dinos during the first part of the "ride". The ride is dark and cool and can be used to take a break from the heat.

If the kids get easily bored sitting and watching things, then yes, they will get bored. The show ranges from wryly humorous to completely silly and is not a bad way to spend 45 minutes in air conditioning.

It is true what a previous poster said...once the "ride" portion starts, there is no way off. Should someone try to exit they have to stop and reset the entire ride. So get in a loo break first...

I think Epcot has too many outdated attractions between this and the Imagination building. Ellen hasn't had that hairstyle in 15 years. The part where you're moving is like five minutes. The rest you're just waiting for something to happen. That said, I didn't hate it and its decent enough for a long rest. Seats aren't comfortable though.

The only reason I like this ride is for the air conditioning and the 45 minutes rest. Other than that I find it boring. However I've always wondered what Ellen would think if she ever rode it again.

Don't miss the pre-show...or even show up late... or Ellen will scold you!

Not only that but if you miss it you are spending a lot of time trying to catch up with the plot.

That said...it is typical Ellen. Funny and flighty. It also is a good break and rest for tired feet. Entertainment and healing all at the same time...what can be wrong with that.

the dinosaurs are really neat, Ellen is really funny, and its nice and cool,
BUT its discussion of fuel sources is a little biased,

Apparently you have never seen the original sponsored by Exxon. Talk about biased. That was a 45 minute advertisement for the saintliness and ever environmentally concerned Exxon Corp. This was during the Valdez years.

You are right. At least for me. Our family did not become Disney regulars until 1996. The Valdez ran aground in 1989.

Actually did this for the 1st time yesterday....2 adults & 2 kids (10 & 7).

If you have the time and want to cool off, I'd highly recommend it.

It's not the greatest thing in the world, but it's dark and air conditioned. If you want to take a 45 min break and cool off I'd say it's a good choice.

Ellen gets on my last nerve--so keep that in perspective! I enjoy the dino part, but the game show section is very long and very dated.

Oh my goodness!! I thought it was just me!

Those are my feelings exactly. I can't stand to be stuck on it and not be able to get off if I need to. No, no, no way am I ever riding that one again.

Thanks for all the sound advice.

So what I've gotten out of this is, we will try it, maybe later in the day on a hot afternoon, and we will make sure everyone has gone potty before boarding. And maybe bring a pillow for DH. :rotfl:

It is a MUST do for us each trip..BUT PLEASE if you know you have to potty, or that your kids may be terrified of the dark or dinosaurs..skip it..IF you try to exit the ride while it starts( and there are at least 50 warnings about this in both ENGLISH and SPANISH before it starts), the WHOLE ride SHUTS DOWN and you are walked off while they reset it...It happened to me 2x on my past trip.I was not a happy camper.

Haven't been on it for years. But I do like the ride. It is long, but it gets you off your feet, onto padded seating and in a/c for an extended period. I enjoy the transition of the theatre seating into "boats"--kind of neat to see the theatre seats break up into bits and gradually sail into the ride portion of the experience!

Well first if you have never been on this ride there is no way you could call this ride claustrophobic. All the rooms are huge like a basketball court or larger.

As for not getting off, they don't strap you in. In a true emergency you would just get up and walk to the nearest door marked EXIT.

I think this ride is one of the most traditional Disney rides there is. It presents a story in an interesting way with different scenes and a unique way of getting from scene to scene.

So as others have posted don't take your kids if they are scared and go potty before you go on. :goodvibes
