those of you that have him - does he write to your children? My dd has written to him -asking how old he is & where he will be tomorrow. I didn't do anything with the letter on day 1 but she moved the letter to be beside him again last night - soooo I'm trying to decide what to do:confused3

Yep, alot of people who do elf on a shelf have him write. Theres a thread on the budget board and a thread under arts and crafts about elf on a shelf and stuff to do with him.

Oh gee thanks! I'm spending FOREVER reading those threads! LOL My elf is so boring compared to those elves on those threads! He doesn't live up to those expectations! HA HA

I've gotta figure out now where to leave the note - and where to put the pen dd left out for him:confused3

I started doing the elf thing without the book. My elf has his own email account and they email back and forth with him.

if your child likes getting mail, toss elfs letter in a envolope and put it in the mail box. Tell her that elfs use specail santa stamps (santa stickers) and let her find the letter.

I type them up on the computer. In special "chistmasy" fonts. Always type it in either Green or Red. I roll it up and put it in his arms. The kids find it and read it.

They even left pictures for him that they drew- and he promptly drew one back for them.

Once he did elf yourself from Office Max with their photos. They thought that was hillarious.

i got some constr. paper & wrote back to her - using the pen she left. I told her he couldn't tell her his age 'cause he didn't know himself (she asked how old he is) & that tomorrow he'd be @ her house (She asked where he'd be tom) - 'cause he's her special elf.

She took that paper & wrote back to him on the back of it - asking more questions - like ask santa how old he is & where he'll be hiding tonight -again

her sis left a sillybandz for him to wear :rotfl2: around his neck specifically

and yes my dd writing the letter is old - surprisingly she still believes - but she does!
