The first thing I said to my colleagues when we heard about the UK electronics checking requirement was that baggage theft was going to suddenly go up. Sure enough, the reports are starting to come in: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/4794679.stm
I'm waiting until the reports catch up with the thousands of delayed bags that BAA is still trying to arrange to deliver; no one will know if anything is missing from them until they are returned to their owners. UK security is allowing passengers to keep their electronics starting today. Gee, what a coincidence.
