Electrical Parade Donkey?

It's none of anyone's business how much the camera cost. The point is he grabbed a nice camera and I agree, that's taking it too far. Although not worthy of a punch in the face:rolleyes1

:thumbsup2 I'm guessing if you hit a CM, you would be banned from the park? Imagine wating all that money just to assault a CM :lmao:

While I certainly don't advocate violence, A character should never grab someone's pesonal property. NEVER.

I want to know how they were screaming? Non-face characters don't usually make noises, do they? And they certainly aren't allowed to talk. Were they braying like donkeys? :lmao:

OP-I'm sorry for your unfortunate event on your first trip. It is not the usual occurance. I really am. But the more I picture it, the more I giggle. Silly donkeys. :happytv:

Next time go to guest services after. Those donkeys need to be taught a lesson in keeping their hands to themselves!! :rolleyes1

From what I remember of the electrical parade, I only ever saw them smile and wave, even with cameras out. They could be jerks if they wanted to because that's their character but they probably have a line for sensitive people (like me, sort of proud to say) which buttons not to push. This definitely sounds like they were pushing buttons. Especially if someone had a similar experience the same night. Maybe these donkeys were being... The non politically-correct word of donkeys

regardless, can you imagine if a child saw his mommy or daddy or grandparent being yelled at by a character?:( we are going in Dec and my grandson will be 2 and a few months...his first trip and Electric Parade is an absolute must but I guarantee if that happened to one of us in front of him it would be my last trip to Disney

The Donkeys in the parade are face characters, made up to look like Donkeys :) We have been told off by the Donkeys because they thought we had made them like that :rotfl:

Characters will act in character. If you don't want to experience any characters that aren't all sunshine and rainbows, then honestly, stay away from the Villains, especially ones that can talk. They don't be smiling, they will "tell you off". This includes the Step Mother from Cinderella and Gaston. I had the Wicked Step Mother tell me off last trip, asking if I was trying to steal all the eligible men in the Kingdom away from her daughters :rotfl: We thought it was hysterical.

kinda hard to stay away from a character that seeks you out:confused3
and a character not smiling or trying to steal an eligible man is a bit different from one who is "sreaming" in your face for a full minute or more

Then, He/or she shouldn't be grabbing my camera in the first place. Don't get me wrong. I am not a violent person at all, But my camera is my property and its not for someone to be screwing around with it. And just for the record, I have been a professional photographer for 20 plus years and I am very picky on who handles my camera. I also have 2 cameras. One that is off limits to everyone including my wife and then I have one that my wife is allowed to take shots with if needed and its always that camera that I take to amusement parks and a few other places. This way, The other camera that I use it for my professional photography doesn't get damage, lost, or stolen.

The Donkey's don't "scream in your face" for a full minute or more. I'm assuming you've never seen the parade? The Donkeys interact with people watching but it's brief 5-10 seconds tops before they move on.

Also my post wasn't about the parade, it was about the person not going to meet Gaston and the Wicked Step Mother if she doesn't want to interact with characters who aren't all happy and sweet like the Princesses. There is nothing wrong with that but the characters act like the characters. If her son is bothered by this, it's best to stay away from the Villains.

While it might have made you feel a little uncomfortable, is it worth losing thousands of dollars by being banned from WDW property? If you assaulted a CM, I assure you, you'd be kicked off the property but probably not allowed back for at least 6-12 months. :confused3 If you feel strongly, by all means, put in a complaint. But violence? :confused3 That should be limited to if someone grabs your child, not your camera. ;)

Sorry, But I don't go to a amusement park to have a employee of that park harass me or make me feel uncomfortable in any way. Its one thing if they weren't touching me or my property, But when they touch me or my property. That is where they cross the line.....

The bottom line is this. Employees of the park should not be touching anyone or property that it doesn't belong to them. Plain and simple.

I totally understand them being in character and wouldn't have thought much of it if they went by braying or messing with each other. I was just very taken aback by not one, or two but THREE of them messing with me and being pretty rude about it. Especially by them being up in my face. If I was acting out or something I would maybe give them some leeway but all I was doing was standing behind the rope and taking pictures. Disney World was so happy and fun and this was so beyond what I was expecting that I was sad. I was hoping this wasn't the norm because if I saw this going on as a kid I'd have been scared or very sad. Thankfully there were no kids near us. The security guard near us did move by me after the third one (partially I think to shoo him away) and they stopped harassing me but they were also well past me by then. FWIW I was there on the 18th, after the guy from the one post had seen what happened.

I didn't take a picture of the first one as I was not expecting it and was waiting for the Pinocchio float to come up when he came over to me, the second two I did get pictures of, sort of.

Hard to see but the second one is screaming/braying in my face here to the left. I didn't notice him at first because I was looking towards the next float, not the donkey boys as I was over him at that point. It wasn't minutes but it wasn't a quick thing either. I'd say 30 seconds or so? Then he stuck his tongue out at me and a few other things. I was so shocked by it much didn't register.

Here you can see a different one standing in front of my camera. He stood there for a while until the security guy came over and moved him on. The security guy was SUPER nice and apologized a few times for what was going on.

I came here bc I didn't know if this was normal behavior or not.

If you have time, take a couple of minutes to send on your concerns to guest relations. Give them the date and time of the Electrical Parade and the behavior of the Donkeys. Ask if what you experienced is normal behavior or not as it doesn't appear to be "normal" to most everyone else here.

Good luck and I am sure you will be thanked for alerting them to this behavior!

Thanks!!!!

By all means, complain since you were feeling that uncomfortable but I've seen this behaviour from various Donkeys 4-5 times in the past. It's suitable for their character, I don't see the big deal about it. But if you're bothered, you should report it. :) Maybe we are just really easy going but they're acting. :confused3

If you had bothered to quote my entire post you can plainly see I said grabbing the camera was taking it too far, so I didn't excuse what the donkey did. My response was aimed at your threat of a violent action.

Best answer in the thread. :thumbsup2

I will put it plain and simple.

If someone doesn't try to or grab my camera. They wont have a problem with me., But if someone did try to or grab my camera. Then, There would be issues between him/her and I. I think that is the simplest way I can put it.

Like I have said before, I am not a violent person, But if the camera doesn't belong to you or anyone else for that matter. They shouldn't be trying to do anything with a camera that doesn't belong to them. What part of that statement is hard to understand?

Anyways, This is my last statement on this issue as the discussion has gone on long enough.

Grabbing the camera - whether expensive or not - is over the line for the simple fact it is a n unexpected act and can very likely lead to the device getting broken in any number of ways. The other behavior - the braying and living up to the other name for donkey- well while horribly obnoxious (that's the point ) sounds in line with the character.

While op was offended somewhat by that behavior she was riled up over the camera. And we all now how when someone angers or irritates us- everything they do after which would have previously been shrugged off suddenly becomes worse in our sight.

Had they not grabbed the camera while she'd still feel they were annoying and off putting we probably wouldn't be reading a post from her.

It does sound like at least one of the donkeys is strangely vindictive (may be too strong a word) based on her story and the one about the guy and seems to target certain people and not relent. That is really odd IMO and should be (along with touching guests or property in a somewhat aggressive way ) should be looked into by disney. A simple don't get in people's faces or interact in that manner for longer than a quick bray should suffice.

Such a weird conversation!

Maybe they did act like that BECAUSE there were no kids around? I have observed the behaviour of the donkeys during a couple of parades and it always seemed like they were pretty "tame" when kids were present but pushed it to the limit if there were only adults around. I thought it was funny, it didn't really bother me when one stopped right in front of me and started screaming :lmao: They were just really into their characters and I am pretty sure they act different wether kids are around or not.
As far as touching the camera goes like the OP reportet...that really is a no-go and they shouldn't have done that. But them touching people behind the rope is perfectly fine...why shouldn't characters be allowed to touch? When it's a princess of Winnie the Pooh everyone love getting hugs...so why should the donkeys not be allows to touch?
