What exactly is the "Chief Electrician" looking for when they inspect electrical appliances? We use a white noise machine to sleep at night. I have seen posts say that people put them in their checked luggage and they have no issues. However, I have also seen people say they are confiscated. What is the electrician looking for? I am aware that you can use an app or purchase a USB white noise machine, but I would like to avoid that if at all possible. I was hoping that we might be able to tell if the machine will be ok before we get there. If it won't be, then we wont bring it. For something we know might be "inspected" is it best to put it in your checked luggage? Or in a carry on?

Also, has anyone had any issues with an electric toothbrush charger?

I can't help with the first part, but I've never had an issue with bringing my corded electric toothbrush charger (Phillips sonicare). I put it in a checked bag.

I believe they check for a UL label as well as the condition of the cord. I suggest putting anything in carry-on that may need to be checked.

Usually they're looking for a few things.

#1 Making sure its not on the DO NOT BRING list
#2 Is it safe and in good working order
