We were at FW about a year ago and used our electric scooters. Does anyone know if they still allow these at the parks?

I would also like to know this.
Thanks

It seem that read somewhere that all scooters are not allowed in FW. Hope this helps........................

I just called to ask myself, the CM called FW and was told NO!
I am sad:(
But still happy to spend time at FW!

Saw them several times at the Fort and as recent as Easter. Maybe it depends upon how you use them? I saw them on sidewalks and never saw Security or any CM stopping any.

We were there last June and were specifically told (and saw in the paperwork given to us at check-in) that scooters are NOT allowed. I had heard since then that they might be allowed at FW, but I really, really hope that they put a stop to that, or else impose the same requirements that they do for drivers of golf carts as far as age, etc.

When we were there we saw a couple of kids on them who were a danger to themselves and others. I think that they are a lot of fun and great when used correctly, but unfortunately there are too many unsupervised kids out there who ride them. I really don't want to have to deal with that on a large scale when I am trying to enjoy my vacation. I expect that is why so many campgrounds do not allow them.

I can state for a fact that we were allowed to use them a year ago last October. I guess that would be October 2002. We went by many security folks and they all waved at us. I even talked to one for quite a time while I was fixing the scooter.

I am pretty sure that it was in the paperwork that they are not allowed but it was not an enforced rule. My question is are they now enforcing this rule??

I certainly hope not becuase it is a lot cheaper to bring my scooters then rent a golf cart.

I agree with fredS that they need to be used by responsible drivers. They are not a whole lot different than bikes. Mine actually go slower.

This subject has been covered many times, and the conclusion is always, it seems, that it doesn't matter what the rules are, they are not enforced anyway.

The info sheet we got this May states ...

"Electric kick scooters are only permitted on sidewalks".

That's all I could find. Seems it used to specifically prohibit gas powered scooters and golf carts, but I may be in brain fog mode on this.

Seems running scooters on sidewalks would be more dangerous than on the roads, but at least you won't get hit by a bus.

I would feel comfortable and legal using your electric scooters.

I do hope they see the light and crack down someday on the flagrant rule breakers, but for now just keep alert and watch behind you every so often.

... or ....

You could go by the back page, at the bottom, where it says ...

"No motorized scooters or skateboards are allowed"

Just spotted this on a reread.

Hmmm ...

Does this mean electric or gas ... ???

... but then I just read one page back ....

... nevermind, your on your own .... heh, heh ...

MrkTI,

So glad to get clarification. (LOL) I am pretty sure your first post is right. I would guess that they don't want the gas scooters because they are so noisy and go a lot faster.

I am bringing them and plan to ride all over the place!

Just got home Sat from 8 days at FW and on to St Aug. Beach. Saw a lot of electic scooters at FW while we were there last week. JFYI:wave2: :wave2: :wave2: :wave2:

What does the current Gazette say about the use of scooters? It used to specifically state that they were NOT allowed.

I will have to find the gazette when I get everything out of the camper, but there were electic scooters running around while we were there. :wave2: :wave2: :wave2: :wave2:

They simply DO NOT enforce their rules unless someone is really getting crazy. I know security stopped a golf cart overloaded with kids and told him next time he does this they will revoke his operating privileges.

We just got back from 12 days at FW and the electric scooters were everywhere. I saw two kinds - the ones that were electified versions of the popular Razor scooters that one stands on, and others with seats that one rides like a bicycle. They never caused a problem.
