DH and I are 'arguing' (not really LOL) about the Electric Parade.

Is it still going?

If not, when did it stop going?

Still going - saw it last week.

They call it Disney's Electrical Parade now and it runs in DCA nightly during peak season at 8:45pm. They drop it down to only the weekends (Friday and Saturday nights in the off season, though.

Does that settle it? Who won? :rotfl:

Maybe, to do some repairs/refurbishment - those floats are pretty old....

Maybe he's referring to the fact that it did take about 6 months for them to get it started up at DCA after the park opened. It wasn't always there from the start - It came back on 7/2/2001 according to Wikipedia. Here's the link.

You're not gloating one bit, are you? :rotfl2:

Well, you're both right, sort of. The MSEP has not run at Disneyland since 1996, and DCA didn't open until 2001, so that's quite a while for it to be not running. FWIW, the rumor mill says the MSEP will be returning home to Disneyland in the next couple of years, but that's just a rumor.

its quite possible that the Electrical Parade may not run during the off season until Dec. The only reason it was running in the off season of 08 was because of the new parade coming and the empty parade slot at DCA.

Even though it didn't run at DL, the original version did run during that empty period after being packed up and shipped to both the MK at WDW (I saw it there) and then to DL Paris. Tokyo also had it's own version. So in effect, you could say that it had brief periods of downtime, but was up in some form for quite a while. :rolleyes1

I'm siding with Emmer!:thumbsup2

Here's the DEP schedule from the last several years (except for early 2008 when it replaced the BPB in DCA from Jan-Mar):

The DEP traditionally goes dark the day after Labor Day. It then returns for a short run during the peak Christmas season (usually from the Friday prior to Christmas through the last day of Christmas peak in January -- where it runs nightly). It then goes dark again until Spring Break peak, when it returns and runs nightly the week prior to Easter. It continues running nightly through Spring Break peak season, then it runs only on weekends the remainder of April and May and early June. When peak Summer season begins in mid-June, the DEP will begin running nightly again.

Hope that clears up any confusion. ;)

The MSEP was discontinued in 1996, and there was a big farewell that went with it. They sold off all of the lights from the floats and introduced a new night time parade called Light Magic, which was a major flop. When they brought it back years later, it was brought to DCA, obviously to try to bolster attendance. I loved that parade on Main Street, and I still like it at DCA, but it just felt more at home on Main Street.

If we're only looking at Disneyland, then it was gone for quite a long time. It may have been traveling around the world, but if you could only visit Disneyland during that time, it was gone. I think they're both right.
