I'm looking for an electric appliance to use to boil/cook noodles while camping? Anyone use a Presto Kettle Multicooker/Fryer? Or is there a similar product you use and like?

I've used a hot plate, just like an electric stove top, it just has one burner. Not sure if this is what you are referring to. We use one that has 3 burners, or at least we did when we were tent camping locally.

I would agree with using a coffee maker. You can pick up a used caraffe at Goodwill or other location. Then just run the water through the machine with the noodles in the caraffe. once the water is done just cover the top with a plate to make sure the steam stays in and let it sit for a few minutes on the maker. the hot plate will stay hot and can cook the noodles. It won't boil but does the job (I've done this with cup of noodles and ramen before when camping).

If you won't actually have electricity (rough camping) you can do the same with an old campfire coffee pot over the coals.

I have no idea why I didn't think of this...just ordered one from amazon..thanks!:thumbsup2

Dang!
I just bought a new camper and could have given you mine...but they really aren't that expensive. You should have no problems, it worked just like having the stovetop at home without the worry of gas or flame.

I have one of these and absolutely love it! Wish I would have bought one years ago. This kettle works faster than a microwave, is easy to use and works great for everything from tea to Ramen noodles.

just be careful with the HB one. We had the same one and it stop working about 5 months after we got it. We called and they sent us a new one... which melted the first time we used it:scared1:... needless to say we got a different brand....

:crazy2: That's no good! I hope yours was the exception! We've had our for several months and no problems yet. It was actually one of the higher rated kettles when we bought it. But, who knows.

I have the Bodum Mini Ibis Electric Water Kettle, but it seems like they don't make that model any more. I did find a cordless version of it though. Mine works really well for boiling water, but I'm not sure I'd want to cook in it since the heater coil looks like it'd be hard to clean around.

I also had the Rival Hot Pot Express and it's a lot better if you really want to actually cook some stuff. The entire bottom is the heating element so it's a lot easier to clean up. Then you can put real veggies and eggs in your noodles and make it a decent meal.
