Ok...this sounds real corny...

I want to plan a special "all American" dinner for election day....already know I want to make apple pie for dessert...but what to make for dinner!?

I have white dinner plates that I will dress up with patriotic colors with the table clothe and napkins...and centerpiece.....

Just thought of this now...silly huh? I just thought it would be fun.
What can I plan for the dinner??

Any thoughts??

How about fried chicken? Chicken pot pie? Something with corn, squash? Turkey? Good old hamburgers?

Frankly, any food we have here we got or adapted from something brought here by our ancesters. If you really want an authentic meal you would have to get some native American recipes.

I would do hot dogs and hamburgers... or like someone else mentioned, maybe fried chicken.

Play a little baseball too. :goodvibes

That's a fun idea! Maybe you could do apple pie for dessert?

I never post over here, but I'm looking forward to our Election day party! Here's my menu. I'm making a fall-themed dinner.

Pumpkin cheeseball with apples and crackers
Harvest salad (greens, sliced apples, sharp cheddar, toasted pecans, dried cranberries, maple mustard dressing)
Vegetarian Senate bean soup
Crusty whole grain bread

Undecided on dessert - we're usually not dessert people so we'll probably ask our friends to bring one.

Thats a cool idea I think I will do the same and have an American dinner too.

What a great idea!! I'd do the same if I wouldn't be sitting down to dinner with someone who has been a write in candidate in many elections....Mickey Mouse. (We'll be at Chef Mickey's that night- wOOt!)

Hope your dinner goes well!

In the current issue of Rachel Ray's magazine she's got a whole menu for Election Day. Looked pretty tasty!

OH I forgot about this...I just got that issue!! Thanks for the reminder!

I had thought about the hamburger and hotdog thing too and my dd14 said..."its basicly like the 4th of July!" OH well....sounds good to me!! Maybe I will get some sparklers too! :lmao:

i don't think that is corny!
I was just thinking this AM that I should have a special dinner..since my DD19 is voting in her first election!!
thought about going out to dinner..but I want to watch the returns!!

Since we owe so much money to China and have let thousands of manufacturing jobs leave the U.S and go there, wouldn't it be appropriate to throw some Chinese take out food in there? ;)

Like it or not, they do play a big part in our economy and can somewhat dictate what we do on foreign policy.

Nothing elaborate food wise, but maybe some "Kung Pow" chicken or "General Tso's" on a red, white and Blue table cloth made overseas and was purchased from America's largest, private employer, Walmart. Mix that in with some burgers and brats fresh from the grill and you got a election day feast.

Well, I have to go straight to the polls after work to vote (hopefully beat the after work rush as I'm off a 4:30) so I won't be home until 5:30 at the earliest. I'll be way to tired to cook after an extra long day, so I'm thinking a crockpot meal, myself. Maybe beef 'n' noodles, I haven't had that in a while!

DH.....IS THAT YOU?? :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

This seriously sounds like my dh...he LOVES his chinese food!! :lmao:

I figured that I would take the family out to dinner that night as we won't be able to afford to eat out anymore if Obama is elected.

Well, according to those "Obama bucks" that the lady in CA distributed, maybe fried chicken, ribs, watermelon and Kool-Aid.

Of course, some of us have already been drinking the Kool-Aid!

Well this sounds a bit harsh...if not racist. :sad2:
