El Pirata y el Perico

we went last nov and ate there. in my opinion you are not missing absolutely anything! im very easy to please and this place was like eating at taco bell which i dont mind but im going in there knowing im gonna eat taco bell. i guess thats what i disliked it cuz i wasnt expecting taco bell type food.

I disagree with this opinion - we thought it was pretty good for a counter service (especially considering it's one of the places where kids can get something other than chicken fingers or a pbj). There are some pretty crummy counter service places in MK. It was open in July, and I'd recommend it.

We think El Peryta is pretty good. We love that the kids can customize their taco salads to their liking and really fill up.

El Peryta El Perico Taco Salad (also available at Pecos Bill's)

We ate there last May and it was a step up I think from Taco Bell. We planned on eating there during our December trip but alas:

Oh well. Maybe in October.... a girl can hope. :)

We ate there in November 2009. The parks weren't very busy at all. It wasn't gourmet food, but a nice change of pace from the burgers, and we liked being able to add our own toppings.

It was open around the 4th of July while we were there, but it was always closed by the time we arrived (around 3:30pm). I did get a taco salad from Pecos Bill, but it was terrible. I have been wanting to eat at this CS, but NOT if it tastes like Pecos. Anyone had both taco salads?

Anything is better than taco bell really.

I hate Taco Bell and rarely eat it unless my DH begs enough, but I would gladly eat there over 99.9% of WDW CS. I still have yet to find a single park CS I will eat a whole meal at, but have not tried any in World Showcase at Epcot (which seem to be the most promising.) I did like Earl of Sandwhich and ate there twice. Usually I sample the stuff I order at WDW CS and then dump it. I actually lost five pounds on our last trip, even though I was eating cinnimon buns from the MSB almost daily for 10 days and sucking down 1 or 2 frozen cokes a day (plus eating out while at the beach for 5 days.)

MPLsDad had it right about the menu change and I think its too bad.

It's been open our last two trips (June 09 and Aug 10). We ended up there by accident the first year and everyone liked it. Hard shell tacos with seasoned beef like my mom used to make (I'm from Illinois so tacos as a boy were that Ortega kit) and a good fixins bar.

This year we went back on purpose but they had dropped tacos from the menu. They only had burritos which were sort of like a cross between Ortega and Chipotle but it just wasn't the same.

I'd go back again if they brought back the tacos but probably not for the burrito.

It has been closed our last 3 trips. So I am really hoping it will be open when we are there in 3 weeks. My DH has wanted to try this place since July 2005!

It was not open at all yesterday. The season for having it open may be past...

It is true, there are no longer tacos on the menu at all. Beef, chicken or veggie burritos, and a taco salad. Nachos with chili too I think. I know there were no tacos on the child's menu. Might have been quesadillas there.

I am thinking the taco salad will be exactly the same as Pecos Bill.

It was open on Saturday, that was the last day it was to be open right now. I think it was set to open again in mid-September, according to the dining info brochure I saw. This was the first time in all my years I have ever seen it open!! I was bummed we had already eaten, I wanted to try it.
