I am torn about where to stay for a week in August!

For a whole week, with a family of 5 POR is just too close quarters, and I don't like eating theme park food all week! AAA cost per night about $130, BUT I wouldn't need a rental car (DME).

Cypress Pointe Villas (or Grand Villas) would be $94 per night for 2 bedroom, $136 for 3 bedroom.

Doubletree suites DTD is $85 per night for a 1 bedroom (free cont. breakfast).

Here is the real dilemma! Halfway through the week, a bunch of my family will be joining us, so the choice we make will impact all of them. They all said the same thing: "Book us where ever you're staying!" Sooooooo, I'm looking for pros and cons for any and all of the above options.

Last piece of potentially important info: At the end of this week, my entire family (27 of us) is taking a cruise. So those tiny cabins will provide plenty of togetherness---which is why I'd like to stretch out just a little the week before.

Hope some of you have advice for me!

I was just looking at the same three options. POR is a little too tight for 5 of us. Doubletree is a good location, no extra magic hours and waterslide, though. I have stayed at CPGV in one of the 3 bedrooms before it was renovated last summer. While I thought the condo itself was kind of tacky we did enjoy all of the space and the kids liked the slides, even though they were not that great.

So, I am thinking three bathrooms would be wonderful for me, my sister, and our 3 boys. Plus all the tvs. But, I am liking the idea of $85 a night and free breakfast.

I did think that the studio at CPGV was a little too close to the two bedroom if one of your family members were just going to book that, I would reccomend going for the two or all three rooms if possible. That might make it a great deal for your whole group if you can just book a few three bedrooms. You can easily lock them off. Also in the twin beds room of the condo I stayed in, there was a door to the outside. It was a wood door and did not feel as secure as I would have liked to put my kids alone over there. Just something to think about.

Thanks for the advice!

What about travel time? Is there a huge diff between the Doubletree and CP??

How about splitting the stay? Is it worth it to repack and move just to have a few days of EMH and DME???

I love having these types of dilemmas! :lmao:

I have stayed at CPGV's and I would say Doubletree suites are only about 5 minutes away at the most. The distance wouldn't be a hassle at all. Also I highly recommend CP for the room to spread out. I'm thinking of staying at the Polynesian next year but I just cant imagine being packed into a tiny room.

Distance is not much different. CPGV would allow for cooking/frdige/snacks/big area to gather around. Doubletree would be no cooking and free breakfast/no place to gather and slightly closer.

Either sounds like a good idea, I would vote for the CPGV with the 3 bedroom so you have room to spread out and have a place to hang out casually/common area since you will have no cooking the next week anyway and you could save some cash my ordering out a bit. When we stayed at CPGV we ordered pizza from Giordano's and got take away from the Chinese place at the corner. We also cooked a bit so there are some options. Of course if I wanted to avoid cooking altogether and wanted maid service I'd go for the Doubletree.

Sounds like a wonderful trip.

The Doubleree unit is a pullout couch in the living room areaa.and two double beds in the bedroom, plus a kitchen/living area.

You will have so much more room at Cypress Pointe.

Cypress Pointe is right next to a Winn Dixie store.

I really liked our family stay in the 2 bedroom at Cypress Pointe I. Plus you can do laundry prior to the cruise at no extra charge.

SOLD! :thumbsup2 We are staying at CPGV.

Now...for those of you who have used the clubhouse/kids activities, I'd love to hear comments!!!!

Yes i would also love to hear about any kids activities....also

does anyone know if the three bedrooms each have their own television?

Thanks

We had a 3 bed unit at CPGV and I know at least 2 of the 3 bedrooms had a tv in addition to the one in the family room. Not sure about the smaller 3rd bedroom though.
