Eight Days of Disney Dining

Our third day in WDW found us at MK with only a dinner ADR for Tony's Town Square and no specific lunch plan. That actually worked to our advantage, because I love the MK vegetable egg rolls and I wanted to try a nutella and fruit waffle.

Crowds were fairly light that morning, due in part to the rainy weather. We saw the line forming for Be Our Guest and decided to hop in around 11:30 a.m. At that point, the line was across the bridge and just around the corner in the new Fantasyland. I think it took about 20 to 25 minutes to get to the front of the line and then another 15 or so minutes to order.

The inside of the castle was beautiful--we sat in the room with the rose--not sure what that is officially called. We walked through the other rooms, as well. As for the food, it was middle of the road. Not sure if I would go through the hassle of standing in line, ordering, etc. again for this restaurant.

DH had the braised pork, which he said was 'ok,' DS had the croque monsieur, which he said was 'ok,' DGF had the turkey sandwich and really liked it; and I had the vegetarian quinoa salad, which was ok. It was a quinoa 'cake' which was soft in texture and room temperature, plus a salad with roasted potatoes and green beans. Not bad, but not anything special, either.

However, the best thing was the strawberry cream cheese cupcake. Best cupcake of the week, and I was very sorry I only ordered one cupcake on a whim, because the line was WAY too long to go back to order another one! Moist, good flavor, but hard to remove from the wrapper (like many others have said.)

Anway, overall I am glad we tried Be Our Guest. I gave up ADR reservations for dinner during our stay and I kind of regretted it, because it meant we had to wait in line to try it. Definitely fun atmosphere, but the food didn't live up to our expectations. In fact, we went to Gaston's afterwards and split two cinnamon rolls because everyone was still hungry, and they were great. Warm, soft and good!!

Also in the MK, I had my favorite food of the week--the nutella and fruit waffle from Sleepy Hollow. SOOOO good. In fact, I am going to buy a Belgian waffle iron this weekend. We got one as a wedding present, but that was so long ago that I am not sure I can even find it. I also love the egg rolls from the cart in Adventureland. Yummy.

We had a dinner ADR at Tony's Town Square. Had not been there in several years, but I wanted the pistachio creme brulee for dessert, so we decided to give it a try.

All in all, it was fine. Not great, not bad. Just fine. Our server was very harried and a little 'off.' The bread and olive oil was tasty and we asked for and received another basket of rolls.

DH had the spaghetti and meatballs and said it was ok, just too lightly sauced. So if you like more sauce on your spaghetti, make sure to ask for it. DS had the cannelloni and liked it. DGF had the fried zucchini and the tomato/mozzarella salad (did not measure up at all to the one at Yachtsman, but it was not terrible); and I had minestrone soup (salty but good) and the pezze parmesan bread with alfredo and marinara dipping sauces. It was good, but not as good as it sounded. Also, it said it was for two, but not in my world. Way too small for two. The high point of the meal, however, was the pistachio creme brulee. If you like pistachio, try it. It was awesome--and different.
