Eggs-plaining the Egg-stravaganza -- The 2016 Hunt Is Over!!!

I apologize if I missed this in the thread but how soon do they take down the eggs? I didn't realize there are 3 separate egg hunts and wondered if the eggs might still be out Monday if I don't find them all before that.

No problem at all!

All 3 of the hunts end right after Easter is over. I believe that everyone has until April 2nd to claim a prize if they have not done so already, but they would have to buy the maps (which you need to buy to be able to get the prizes) before or on March 27th. I listed all of the places to get the maps and where to get the prizes on the previous page of this thread, in this post -- http://www.disboards.com/threads/eg...pictures-are-ok.3393648/page-12#post-55391822.

The eggs involved in the hunts come down after Easter is over, unless something changes this year. They're not up for decoration -- only for the purposes of hunting -- so Disney is quick to take them down.

Thanks for the info. I doubt I'll be able to find all the eggs before they take them down but maybe I'll just get all the maps and see how far I get. I'll be doing some park time after dark and I'm not sure if they'll be visible then. It sounded like a fun thing to do since the park is going to be crazy busy but at least I won't miss it completely.

Got all 6 eggs and was told by a castmember when we bought the DL maps that stitch and cheshire cat had sold out the day before

Wrong choice of words here. What i meant to say was they had run out of those 2 at that certain store the day before according to the CM. Don't want anyone to think they are all gone.

We head down to the area bright and early tomorrow morning! We have breakfast at Surf's Up! on Saturday, then will do Build-a-Bear with my nieces. After that we are going to do the DTD egg hunt. Hopefully World of Disney still has the Stitch and Cheshire Cat eggs, as those are the two I want the most. They are all so cute, I may just say the heck with it and buy six maps. My husband won't be happy with me, but he'll get over it, right?

It'll be fun, but so hard to not be going into the parks. At least we will get a taste of Disney! That will have to hold us until October.

A taste of Disney is better than nothing! You will be "park adjacent," and still in the middle of Disney fun. You will still get to mingle with characters at Surf's Up. Build-a-Bear is always a fun thing to do. Even just being at the hotels is fun because you can do things like search for hidden Mickeys and browse the shops. You can still get Easter treats at Marceline's. You can have a lot of Disney-specific fun without ever setting foot in the parks.

I wish that the GCH had a giant display egg in the lobby this year, since they'd been doing so well with the Halloween display, the Diamond Celebration display and, of course, the gingerbread display for the holiday season. But... no Easter display, sadly.

Remember that if, for any reason, the actual maps are sold out at WoD by tomorrow or Saturday, you can get them at the 3 main gift shops in the 3 hotels.

I think I'm going to pick up the maps at the shop in the PPH before breakfast. I'll be right there anyway, and I can never resist going through the shops.

I've actually never been inside Marcelline's, we'll have to check that out. Do they sell the candy apples there? If so, that's a definite "must do".

I am loving Hong Kong's eggs -- https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/b...esorts-first-ever-springtime-egg-stravaganza/. Look at the eggs in the water! So clever.

Yes! You can get apples there -- in fact, before Marceline's opens you can usually see the CMs making apples or other goodies at the window. You can get the seasonal cookies, cake pops, cupcakes and most of the other treats you would find in the sweet shops in the parks. It's great to have it there in DTD for those who are not going in the parks.

We purchased 6 maps (2 each from the 3 hunt locations) and collected all 6 eggs.

Two separate "egg ladies" told us Stitch and Cheshire were the most popular this year, and were going fast. She urged us to get those first. Then Mickey and Minnie, and finally Woody & Jessie.
We did it in that order, at California Adventure, they were running low on Cheshire and Stitch. This was 3 days ago.

PS--the eggs you hunt for are HARD to find!!! It was fun to spot a few. Loved seeing the kids running around with their maps having a blast.

We arrive tomorrow and had just accepted the fact that we would be too late to do the hunt, but it's showing on the daily events for all next week. I hope that means that this will really still be going on! We'll check the hotels for maps as soon as we get in!

That have plenty of the DTD maps at the PPH shop.

The fact that it is showing for next week may be an oversight, or something that just hasn't been updated yet. The hunt never lasts beyond Easter, and the Parks Bog has not announced anything about the hunt being extended (oops, almost forgot -- eggs-tended!) this year. They specifically said it lasts until/through March 27th. The eggs that are part of the hunt always come down right after Easter is over.

So, don't count on the hunt going on next week, or beyond tomorrow. It could happen, but don't rely on that info being accurate.

However, people have until the end of the week to claim their prizes (4/1 or 4/2), while tomorrow (3/27) was supposedly the last day to get maps. It could be possible that, if most of the maps and most of the prizes are still available in most of the stores, maybe DLR is letting the Egg-stravaganza run until the end of the week just to sell them. You never know!

In any case, remember -- you can get California Adventure maps (as well as the Downtown Disney maps) at Acorns at the GCH, so that is a place to nab the DCA map that most might not think of, because it has not been advertised by the Parks Blog. The Parks Blog only told people about getting the DTD maps in that shop. The California Adventure maps are not available at the other hotel gift shops -- I think that GCH has them because there is an entrance into DCA on the GCH property.

Thanks for the info. I was afraid that it being on the events page may just mean that you can claim your prize during that time, not actually hunt for eggs, but I wanted to believe it was being extended :) If nothing else, we could do the DTD one when we get in though, right? We're not planning on being in the parks until Monday.

Yes - you can do the DTD hunt tomorrow.

Never say never, though. Again, if there are enough maps and prizes left over in most of the shops that have been selling them, and since people have up to April 2nd to claim their prizes, Disney may have just decided to extend the actual hunting and selling maps beyond tomorrow. They may have over-ordered the maps this year due to the short supplies in the previous years, and if they have enough of them and they have enough prizes left, why not keep it going for a few extra days? It's possible.

So I will cross my fingers for you and hope that the DCA and DL hunts will be available for you after tomorrow. :goodvibes

Any word if the maps are still available? We plan on going tomorrow on the last day of the Egg hunt...

I wondered that as well, but it is not sounding as if the maps are sold out at all (from all I have gathered). Last year and the year before, word started getting out that the maps were selling out or the prizes were running out (well before Easter), and the Parks Blog posted that maps were sold out, so it was very obvious that it was happening. This year, it is not obvious. It seems like there is a bounty of everything, more or less. I have a feeling that Disney ordered a bunch of them this year, to cover the month of March -- and they probably ended up with a lot of extra. Each map (DTD, DL and DCA) seems to be available in enough shops that maybe if something sold out in one shop it was available in 3 or 4 other shops in the same area.

Hopefully someone will report back if they stumble upon a sold out map scenario!

I suspect you'll get maps! Are you doing all 3 of the hunts, or just 1 or 2 of them?
