Egg, Soy, Gluten-kids and Disney

I just wanted to follow up on our experience from our trip last week. My friend was NOT able to get rice milk at any of the TS restaurants, she was able to get soy milk at O'hana for herself.

The Club Level lounge was magnificent, they had individual boxes of rice milk, kind of like juice boxes with a straw that she could open and put in the baby's bottle or sippy cup. They were packaged 3 to a pack and they would just give her a pack when she needed it, but she did have to ask for it, they kept it in the back.

She had the gluten free Mickey waffles at O'hana, she let me try one, and let me tell you, they are so much better than the regular ones. I don't like really sweet food in the morning and these were not as sweet and tasted so much better than the regular Mickey waffles.

Thanks for coming back and sharing your friend's experience. I'm really disappointed in the special diets department for not making rice milk a regular item in the TS kitchens. It used to be easy to get. Just one more thing they're trying to streamline I guess, much to the frustration of many of us.

What restaurants did she eat at?

Do you know what brand of rice milk the club lounge provided for her? I like that they had the single serving containers.

Sorry special diets has nothing to do with what the kitchens carry the only people who are is the chef and their team food and beverage managers/directors and purchasing that it. Special diets is only their to note allergies and answer some questions. They have no power over what Disney carries and what they don't carry.

Nope, that's not true. Yes chefs to have freedom in what they order but the Special Diets department does also work with the restaurants to provide allergy specific items that are available to the chefs. Many chefs are not happy with all of the products that they have to work with but they're told by the central Special Diets department that this is what they are expected to order.

What ever well they must not have that much power because they don't carry that much. In the end it still up to the chef what they carry if it was up to special diets then they would have more items and they all the restaurants would carry the same allergy safe food. Yes special diets works withy them to let them know about guest with allergies and maybe see about them carrying certain food. But a executive chef is on jarhead of their kitchen and has the last say.

We ate at Garden Grill, O'hana, Be Our Guest, and T-Rex (which wasn't quite as accommodating as the Disney owned restaurants)

It was Rice Dream

She was really happy with being able to order meals that were Dairy free and she shared some of the special food items with me and they didn't taste much different than what the rest of us had to eat. Her daughter was able to eat off her plate since the food items were dairy free and she is the one with the dairy and soy allergy. We really loved the allergy rolls at Garden Grill, they even gave her the name of the company that they order them from.
