eesh, this review on tripadvisor.com on the Poly makes me sad...

moderates all the way. would never pay for a deluxe at $400.00 a night. That's just crazy.

While it is true that the rooms at the WDW resorts are just plain hotel rooms like you would see at any Hampton Inn, you are paying for location and the convenience of not having to drive that awful drive in from Kissimmee.

Also, you pay for safety. Offsite rooms can be dangerous, and I would never let my kids wander alone outside of a WDW resort. And my entire family and myself are black belts!

I am at the point now that I only want to stay deluxe. You don't have to be rich. You just have to save, save, save! We drive 2 ten year old cars, we don't decorate our home, we have a low house payment BUT we go on 2 great vacations per year. I just consider the lodging part of the overall vacation and try to forget that I am paying $300 a night for the room.

Funny, now when I get a room in Chicago or other city for less than $200, it doesn't seem so outrageous.

:confused3 Did people feel that the OP was posting his/her opinion? I understood it to be a review from another website. Why all the bashing on the OP?

TaurusSES_Sport ..... please edit your post and put the quote from tripadvisor in quotes. Seems some can't understand from the title of your post that this is not your opinion and that you don not agree with it.

Don't worry, PCFriar80, I filtered that one through my kidneys long ago! They don't even use those mugs anymore.

Although I do agree that person doesn't understand Disney, I do have to agree about the exorbitant prices of the Deluxe resorts. I actually love Pop and don't find it embarrassing, but I would like to be able to afford to do a deluxe once. We are going to try for AKL in October, but I just can't justify it at $324 per night. that's why I'm hoping for a code.

I agree with you. I love Disney, and I would love to stay in a deluxe, but I have to opt for less. I guess that's the way it goes.

Deluxe in DW expensive? Has anyone been to Europe lately, the beating we take from the strong Euro is like going 3 rounds with Tyson in his hey day.

trip advisor is full of mean people who have no idea what Disney Magic is all about - I really think people just post a bunch of bad stuff. Stick with the boards - the infor is better an the people "get it".

The way Taurus's post was originally, I realized they said that they had read a negative report from another web site, but I thought they were ad-libbing to the tripadvisor TR. Looks like it wasn't just me who interpreted it that way. My apology to TaurusSES. Now that you've edited your OP, it's much clearer to understand what you were saying. To add, I personally would take what that person on tripadvisor wrote with a grain of salt. If that's the way they talk over there, I have no desire to ever visit that site. So again, my apologies if I jumped the gun and thought you were expressing your personal viewpoints. :grouphug:

I'm not so sure if enjoying the Values is the same as letting in a little bit of magic. I love to let the magic in, but I've always thought the Value's were garish. I'll be able to give you a more informed opinion after I stay at the Pop in April (something I said I'd never do, but financial reality is, well, reality).

I don't begrudge Disney for what they charge for any of their rooms - its all about supply and demand - its the American way. But as far as the Values go - if you're gonna build a cheap motel, why not just go ahead and do it. Dressing it up and calling it a resort doesn't fool anybody.

Oh, I agree with you. I don't like the Value resorts at all. I was just trying to point out that this OP is probably miserable in life in general and needs a little magic.
