Last summer was the year of the cicada on Cape Cod. They only come out every 17 years....and that is a good thing

They make the loudest screeching noise between 8am-7pm

My dad lives on the Cape. I HEARD them when I visited......I bet there was no sleeping in for you last summer

I live in Oklahoma and we used to get them alot in our old house which backed up to the woods; usually around a water source or the laundry basket. Would scare the bejeezus out of me. I can't remember if this has been mentioned yet, but they jump like a cricket, too.

One time, in the same house, I grabbed my nightgown out of the drawer and as I was putting it on a button scratched my chest, then the same button 'stung' the bridge of my nose. I suddenly realized I had no buttons on this gown and right then a scorpion fell out of the gown. I can hardly even type this without getting creeped out. Thanks for bringing back the nightmares.
