EE soft openeing?

We rode EE on Thursday morning. We were advised by some CM's to call the WDW-INFO number in the morning before going to the park to check if the ride would be open. When we called, they did say it should be open, but they can't guarantee it. We got there at rope drop and headed back to the EE. It was open with no wait! We rode it three times in a row and got a fastpass for later. We headed over to Dino-land and the Dinosaur ride for about an hour and headed back to EE. When we got there, it was closed. The CM's out front couldn't tell us when/if it would open again. We could see CM's walking the track. We hopped to another park about an hour later, so I don't know if it ever opened again.

HTH,
Dan.

Everest was shut down all day Friday Feb 10 and that was the day we rushed to AK first thing and through DinoLand only to be faced with ropes across the way to EE with CM's standing there telling us it was down the whole day. I was so bummed. We did Dinosaur 2 times and walked back to see if it open only to see the ropes still up. The CM's couldn't say if it would be open on Saturday or not. We decided to risk it and stay an extra night just in case it was open. The only availability was at CBR. Good thing we did stay because we got to AK at almost 9AM the board in front said EE was open and had 15 min wait and FP was available so we went straight there. I got us a Fastpass and I got in the standby line by myself. I rode it and then went and assured my DH that it would be ok for him to go (he gets nervous if he doesn't know what the ride is going to do) We rode it again and it was AWESOME. We left AK after that (since we did everything else the day before) When we went by the front board it said FP was no longer available. Also heard that EE was shut down at 2PM. We also got a message on the phone last night that said that EE would be open this AM but be shut down again at 2PM. So we packed everything up and I went to AK and was able to ride another 2 times. Got some good pictures of the standby line and the theming in there and also got some great pictures of the view from top and also a pic of the yeti. AWESOME RIDE!!!! I will give it a big THUMBS UP!!

It was open today, 2:00 no fast passes left and a 120 minute wait from the time sign but the line ran out across from the entrance and down the road.

I just got an e-mail, saying that they will have a soft openinig when we are there next week......

Just got back from Disney from 2/3/06-2/10/06 and expedition everest is open..... It is still considered "SOft Opening" but it will remain open up until the offical opening day in April. They may need to stop it periodically to make adjustments etc. It is a FABOULOUS RIDE....we rode it 20 times.....no lines. The first day on Feb 4th not too many people knew it was open so we went on 10 times in a row with no wait....IT WAS AWESOME!!!!! it was a kind of dreary morning and I guess most people were in no rush to get to the park....whatever the reason....we were thrilled.....The next time we went back to the Animal Kingdom we rode another 10 times with no wait....in the morning it was not open right away at emh because they were having problems with the animatonics but we got on by 9:00 AM and also had fast passes just in case....but did not really need them. When we got on the ride the Yeti was still not operating correctly but we would have never noticed unless we had been on the ride before ..... these are the things they are still working on to be ready in April......BUT it is open....and it is the best ride Disney has put out in a very long time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agreed...best in YEARS! I wouldn't have gotten on it 24 times like a dork during the AP preview if that wasn't true. If you are headed down there soon, ENJOY AND HAVE FUN!!! :) It'll also make up for Pirates being down.

It was closed yesterday at 2 so I wonder if all those people in line got to ride ~ when I was there earlier yesterday (around 9AM) I rode it 2 times (try to see if they have single riders line if you don't mind getting split up from group ~ you can always meet up with them inside or just outside of the gift shop. Bet it was a chilly ride today if its working.

I am so torn! I'm going to Orlando March 7 - 12 for a conference and just to hang out, wasn't going to do parks. But I am DYING to ride Everest! There is probably only one morning that I will have the chance to go, and I don't know if to take the chance and use a day of admission! If I can't ride Everest, I had planned to do non-park things - I really hadn't planned to park hop, which is what I'd have to end up doing to make the most of the day's admission!

Also, I don't have any park admission at present - my next park trip isn't until next year! Seems awfully expensive to buy a ticket just to see if EE is open; it's also expensive to buy next year's ticket now, because it would need to be non-expiring, and I was only planning to buy expiry tickets next year - the price difference is significant. I suppose I could buy expiry and add the non-expiration if I end up using a day to visit EE. At least that way if I call and they tell me EE is closed, I won't need to use an day, and I won't have paid for non-expiry unnecessarily. Make sense?

not sure when you are going next year or for how long but, consider getting an AP. Sure it will cost a little more (probably not much more than the non-expiring tickets) but then you can go to parks each day that you are there and not feel guilty about wasting a days ticket. Plus you can get the DDE card and save 20% on sit down meals. Plus, if you don't have your room yet for your next year's trip then you might can get a good AP discount!! Just a thought!

I wish I could use an AP - but next year we aren't going until the end of April, so outside of the 365 day period. APs definitely have value if you can use them!

Thanks for the tip anyway!
