I've read on a few other sites that Expedition Everest is more like BigThunderMountain than RNR.......Is this the case? What is your opinion...those of you who have riden. TIA
Well Dh has a neck problem, and I told him Big Thunder was definately a "no go", however after riding EE, I told him to go on. He did great and we all loved it! Ages from 60 down to 9 in my family . Yes it is a train, but SMOOTH, faster like Space Mountain and parts of it in the dark. It's a great job!!
EE is a good mixture of the other "thrill" rides at WDW. It's the smoothest of them all; and while it doesn't turn you upside down like RnR, the backwards portion is quite discombobulating...in a thrilling way. It is my favorite of all the Disney roller coasters.
DS11 and I both felt it was much better than BTMRR, Space Mountain and RnR. It is closest to BTMRR, but it has fantastic theming and a great story. Haven't done Mummy. DS11 asked "How did they make a ride this great!"

Thanks for your post. I have neck problems, as well, and cannot ride BTM anymore. I was hoping EE was smooth like RNR. I'm concerned about the backwards portion because I heard it also dips and curves at high speed in the dark. Any comments?
The backwards portion isn't bad at all...fast, but very smooth. If you're riding in the very back of the train, it's a bit more intense; but nothing major. The backward curves are no problem at all.

Rock N Roller Coaster knocks the daylights out of my head. I always come off of there and reach for the aspirin. Expedition:Everest was sooooo smooth. No jerkiness at all.
There are two threads running at the same time on this forum...the other one has comments from a person just back from WDW who rode it 3 times...and also a link to a GREAT video taken by a cast member of the whole ride:
I just got back and rode it three times Sunday as well. I mentioned on another thread that the best I could compare it to was Big Thunder because of the curving loops around and through the mountain, however it is a smooth ride, it is nothing like Big Thunder as in the rickety shaking cars as it moves on the tracks. I thought that it was very fun but not too scary, making it a great family ride.
From what I've heard, the lines are either all the way back to the park entrance or they're nothing at all. Since the ride isn't officially open, it's a "catch-as-catch-can" thing, and it all depends on who catches it. I'll be there this weekend...we'll see if I can get lucky. We rode it 5 times during the sneak preview (we went on Friday) and never waited longer than 15 minutes. Now that's what I call lucky!

For those of you who've rode (soft openings) do they post the times they open the ride or is it a case of "passing by....OMG it's open" type thing? Thanks for all the info!
