EE Help!

I can handle Thunder Mountain & Mine Train. My daughter (8) wants to ride EE. Can you compare itto Thunder Mountain & Mine Train? Also, I know it goes backward. I'm not looking forward to that. How long does it go backward, is it a steep drop, can you see at all, etc.? Any tips to handle the backward part? Thank you!

My 6 and 7 year old boys rode EE twice and loved it! Actually they rode it back to back with the help of rider swap. I don't think my 6 year old took a breath because he was so scared, not once, but it made for an awesome Photo pass pic. I would not say its comparable to Thunder mountain or Mine Train, both are a much tamer roller coaster. Have your daughter watch it on YouTube to see if she thinks she'd like it.

I think it's way smoother than Big Thunder!
It's bigger and taller in a spot but it's always on the "ground" unlike a big steel coaster.
The backwards part is inside in the dark.
I think you'll be fine.

Because Mine Train isn't really that fast, I'd definitely say there's more thrill to Everest. You don't go backward for too long. You come up to a 'broken' track. And you wait for a few seconds before it drops you. (I think it's so everyone can see the track is broken and to build suspense.) Then your track redirects to a new path. Expedition Everest is my second favorite 'mountain' after Space. It definitely seems faster (and more thrilling) than Thunder. It's DEFINITELY faster than Mine Train. And it seems like a longer ride. But it's smooth! It's not a 'bounce you around' roller coaster. I saw people of all types and ages riding.

There is a corkscrew inside the mountain that produces enough G-force that it can feel like you go upside down, but that's the most intense part, to me. I'm not really a coaster person but managed to ride it 4 times with DD11. We love BTM and Space Mountain, Mine Train is fun too.

It is way faster than Mine Train and Big Thunder. The kind of fast where you feel like glued down to the seat. The backward part does not last long so you will be fine. It is a lot of fun and not as rough as Big Thunder.

It's definitely more intense than the Mine Ride but less bumpy and smoother than Thunder Mountain. The backward portion lasts for less than thirty seconds, I think and is entirely in the dark. I find it most intense in the front and farthest back, so ask for a middle spot. I rode with someone who is new to thrill rides recently and she reports she'd consider it again. Perhaps watch an online video to get a sense of it? It's one of my favorite, so I hope you feel comfortable enough to try it!

Hmm... when we were there last week I asked the CM in the gift shop if it went upside down and she informed me that it was a modified corkscrew. I'm certainly not a coaster expert, so I defer to those that know better. Just sharing what was explained to me!

It's a helix/spiral part that's pulling you down and then dips back up. It really doesn't feel like you go upside down at all, but the motion up after being pulled down makes it feel like you're about to ascend a loop.

A corkscrew, no matter how it's "modified" still goes upside down and you're rotated 360 degrees

EE is definitely faster and more of a thrill ride then the other two. But is SO much fun. I have a problem with motion sickness...so when the "going backwards" part happens...I literally turn my head and face the direction so I "feel" like I'm going forward. Silly. I know. But it works for me

I love EE, so I don't want to scare you. But it is definitely more intense than either 7DMT or Big Thunder. CAS239 is exactly right, it's not a corkscrew or any flip, but the sudden rise makes you feel like you're about to flip. I think part of that turn is banked too, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

Like I said, I really enjoy the ride, but if you don't like going backwards, you simply won't like that part. Only advice I can offer is to turn your head and look behind you as the ride is going backwards, so it gives your eyes the illusion of going forward. I did that once, simply because I wanted to try to see where we were going. Looking in the direction we were going gave it a different feel...definitely not as intense.

I'm not a rollercoaster fan, but EE really wasn't that bad. I rode it several times in a row with DD5 because DH's back was acting up. Most coasters make me say, "Ok, no more of that one!" because my rule is one and done, but I was ok with several rides on EE. Dinosaur is my "nope" ride in AK - never ever again. Ever.

I'm not a huge coaster fan, but really like 7D and BTMR. I'd suggest you sit towards the from on EE. At the top of the hills the front slows to let the back of the train catch up. We road EE 4 times. The one time we road in the back was much faster. Had we road in the back 1st I don't think I'd have ridden it again.

Would you consider letting her go on her own if she would like to do that? I can also handle 7DMT and BTMRR (actually really enjoy them!), but I can't handle Space Mountain, EE or RnRRC anymore. My DS9 wanted to try EE on this last trip, so I let him go on his own. We both had FP+ for the ride, so I walked him through the line (you can do this standby as well) and up to the loading area, and explained to the CM that he was riding alone. They then assigned him a row and I went to the EE exit which is right inside the gift shop next to the ride. He loved it, I didn't have to ride and I met him right at the ride exit. We did this at Space Mountain as well. As long as a child is 7 or older, they can ride alone.

The thing that most first timers don't realize with Expedition Everest is that it's more than just the ride up to the top and then the drop. I haven't been on Mine Train but from what I've heard, that's not a "real" roller coaster. I have been on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Expedition Everest is more "intense" but a lot smoother.

As a PP said, the backwards part is in the dark but still not that bad. The drop part is not in the dark. Personally, of all the roller coasters at Disney World (and I am not a coaster person), this is the best.

You will hurt your neck if you try to do this. You're much better off facing forward and closing your eyes when it's moving backwards.

ETA: She might be put with another rider, she might not. Depends how the line is and how the CM is sending people.

At times there are too many lights shining under the tracks and you can see you are slightly banked to the left which you have to be to make the turn but it's no more than some banks on the other two, just longer, bit faster and in the dark.

At 8 she can enter the single rider line, which usually isn't very long. Or you can wait with her. The line enters just to the right of this photo. Tell the CM you decided not to ride and they should send you through that gate to the unload/gift shop area and you can wait for her just inside the shop.

But if you can ride the other two, I really do think you will be just fine.
