EE for APs if you are staying onsite but are blacked out from EE?

If I had an AP, but it was a blackout date for my early entry, BUT I am staying onsite. Do I get the hotel EE? Or does my AP blackout prevent that?

I think the hotel would trump the AP, but I wanted to make sure before I do some purchasing/budgeting/planning for next year.

I believe your hotel would trump the AP as in my previous experience, you have to show your room card to get access into the areas that are open for EE.

Yes, everyone at onsite hotels is eligible for EE.

They don't even look at your AP, just room key. We have APs and always stay onsite. I don't even know when my AP is eligible for EE.

You'll scan your AP to get in the park, as long as it's valid for park entry, you'll get in.

Then, when you get into the park, before you can get to any of the EE rides, there will be a checkpoint. You just flash your room key and off you go.
