Edwards admits affair

Heard on one of the morning talk shows that even the Democrat operatives aren't buying Edward's silly story.

In John Edwards own words......

I think this President has shown a remarkable disrespect for his office, for the moral dimensions of leadership, for his friends, for his wife, for his precious daughter. It is breathtaking to me the level to which that disrespect has risen.

Sen. John Edwards Feb. 12, 1999 speaking about President Clinton........ these same words now fit him nicely.

Yet, President Clinton WILL be speaking at the DNC this year none the worse for wear.......to thunderous applause no doubt...... while John Edwards will be persona non grata.......

How is THAT for irony?

I see your points - but to me - the whole political landscape is filled with men who cheated on their wives........ its an equal opportunity affliction (both republicans and democrats do it.....)

I have learned to discount the extramarital affair, using the logic a lot of folks used when Bill Clinton's affair was exposed (if Hillary's ok with it - then it doesn't bother me, who am I to judge).....

A hypothetical question - let's say its learned that Obama partook - or McCain partook again....... would that change your (the collective your) upcoming vote in November?

Yes, it would.

My opinion:

And please note it says :

I believe cheating on one's spouse speaks of your character & ethics or lack thereof

I believe that one cannot separate "personal" character/ethics from "public" character/ethics. If you are able to behave without character/ethics in one area of your life, you will be able to behave without character/ethics in all areas of your life

I feel badly for Elizabeth that she is ill, but, she did campaign for him after this news was given to her, knowing full well what he did. I am sorry, I take issue with someone telling me that "this man would be a great President" because frankly, his lack of character/ewthics leads me to think he wouldn't. Unfortunately, at this juncture in history, there are no political figures that I think have a lot of character/ethics. I think they are all power-hungry and self-serving. And I don't care which political party they are from.

And I bet the NE is going "nyah, nyah, nyah" to all the "respectable" news agencies that said that they were a tabloid with no real story.

I feel sorry for thier children, who have to watch this played out in the media. I don't feel sorry for two well-educated people who for some reason thought this would never come out. They got power-hungry.

I do not like the "John made a mistake" thing. A mistakle is when you miscount your change. Sleeping with someone is a choice...a bad choice for sure, but a choice nonetheless. It would have been a mistake had he slipped into a darkened room and had sexual relations with a woman & when the lights came on recoiled in shock because it wasn't his wife.

Somehow, I doubt that happened.....

JUST THOUGHT I ADD THIS ARTICLE...:rolleyes1

Rielle trashes Elizabeth Edwards: 'She does not give off good energy'
Sunday, August 10th 2008, 11:09 PM
Rielle Hunter compared John Edwards with Gandhi and went around trashing his cancer-stricken wife, it was reported Sunday.

A Newsweek writer who courted her as a source during Hunter's affair with the presidential candidate portrays Edwards' mistress as a charming but hugely indiscreet muddlehead who called reporters with New Age babble about Edwards' "old soul."

Unless he's being considered for next in line to the President. If a man (or woman) can't keep a vow made before god to be faithful, then how can they be expected to be faithful to an oath made to his country?

I totally agree.

He LIED to this country for the past year about this. How can he be trusted not to lie again?

I heard the reporter who was there (BH hotel) interviewed on Fox News tonight - he said JE went into the room at 9:45 p.m., the encounter with the photogs happened when he left at 2:45 a.m.:scared1:

The lying is bad enough. But what does it say about Edwards that he was apparently totally snowed by all this new age crap about being an old soul?

He must really have a fragile ego to have fallen for such baloney. Not the type of temperment one needs in a President - and I'd say that about a candidate of either party.

He pretty much admitted to Bob Woodruff that he was egotistical and narcissistic.

And if it takes that little to sway him to do something that unethical, then no, he doesn't have what it takes to be President.

Ugh - and he had the nerve to take the "moral high road" on the gay marriage issue. Moral my.... ok, I can't think of an appropriate body part to use here.

I am curious if you get to his position (snicker) without these qualities....just aquestion of degree.

What he did was wrong the act and the aftermath.

If he were running for anything I would consider his infidelities and lying about the infidelity (by the way, what cheater initially tells the truth about the affair?). But with Bush for example, and infidelity with subsequent denials
, would be low on my priority list. I care about how he will serve me.

Want to know how he was going to serve you? Here was a man who not only cheated on his wife, he cheated on a terminally ill wife stricken with cancer. His campaign in some form or another paid hush money with campaign funds most likely, to his mistress who had a baby that is probably his. Last I checked that was a violation of campaign laws to use donated funds for that purpose. Lets put that to the side though and look at how he would serve you, shall we?

This miserable excuse of a man who's arrogance seems to only be matched by his ability to lie frequently and repeatedly, decided to run as POTUS on the Democratic party ticket. Him and his sick wife knowing full well that what he had done wouldn't fly with the American public in anyway, shape, or form. Full speed ahead though and damn the consequences.:scared:

Now mind you, if had manged to be in Obama's position right now as the affair story broke, your party, yeartolate, would be up craps creek without a paddle. Or how about if this was late October and the story came out then? An even worse possibility, what would have happened if he was elected and the story came out? Him violating and skirting the campaign laws currently in place over paying this woman hush money, could have caused his impeachment and removal from office. If any of these realistic scenarios would have taken place, it would have hurt the Democratic party, possibly for years to come. Period. He would have been the equivalent of a human hand grenade throwing political shrapnel everywhere, injuring many.

Are you still wondering how he would have served you? It's in the best interest of his family, the country and the Democrat party that John Edwards retire from running for any public office. We all deserve better than him.

He was planning to serve you -and the rest of America -in the same way he did Reille Hunter. :lmao:
