ECV rentals from the Disneyland Hotel - timely service?

I just broke a bone in my right foot and am now in a cast & crutches for 4 weeks, and am also staying at the DLH August 30. I will rent an ECV :moped: from DLH rather than have DH push me around the parks and DTD for 3 days (he's 6'4", so I can imagine the back-breaking effort a regular 'chair would be).

I won't be renting an ECV from the parks, but will rent directly from the hotel (DLH) instead. I know the arrangement, the pricing, etcetera. This weekend, I called DLH guest services to verify what information I could get from DIS forums. The ECV services that the hotels provide are contracted out to a 3rd party and (as a result) the ECVs are brought onsite upon request - apparently within 2 hours of my request.

If anyone here has had an exerience renting ECV's directly from the hotels, I'd like to ask them if the hotel ECV service (for delivery) was timely.

Thanks!

Hi and :welcome: to disABILITIES!

Several people, here and on other boards, have recommended Deckert's Medical Supply at (714) 542-5607 as a good company for renting ECVs at Disneyland. I just used them last month. There has also been a strong recommendation for Orange County Medical Supply at (714) 956-4690.

It might be a good idea to call them directly and find out how much it will cost. If you are working through the hotel they will want to make their own profit on top of the rental fee.

Also, if you are working directly with a dealer you can get a crutch holder attached to the ECV for when he has to transfer.

If you click on where it says "disABILTIES" at the top of this page it will take you to the Index. One of the top items is the "disABILTIES FAQ" which will gives lots of useful information, including where people rent ECVs. Post #14 has information about DisneyLand.

Or, if you want an easier route, click on the link in my signature.

Thanks for the tips! I am following the thread(s) you referenced and pouring a fresh coffee to read up. Much appreciated!

Yes, PLEASE verify which third-party supplier Disney will be contracting. I didn't know about Deckert's when I went a couple of years ago, and I was not particularly impressed with the company I did use. The ECV was not at my non-DLR resort when I arrived (it was supposed to be), and it took two calls a couple of hours apart for it to finally show up - the second response being, "Are you sure it's not there? Have you checked with the hotel?" Well, sorta - I was sitting in the lobby waiting for delivery and it was a small lobby.

Then, despite being fully charged overnight, it conked out the next afternoon. A CM helped me to wheelchair rental, where they charged it for me while I rented a replacement. A few days later, the same thing happened - except (a) in the morning and (b) not one of the hundreds of people I passed while pushing myself along with a crutch, ever even reacted.

FYI: I am staying at the Disneyland Hotel, not a good-neighbor hotel (as per my original post). I just called DLH Guest Services this last weekend to have them make the arrangements and did not make any request regarding what company they might book through. If they charge a premium for this service, so be it. I do trust the cast of the DLH to take care of this for me.

This way, should I have any problem with the rental, I can take it up with DLH guest services directly - right upon check-in. I'd rather not be directly calling some company in the USA that I have no affiliation with to straighten out ECV rental issues.

I just called the DLH last weekend to have them book the ECV for me and my cc was just debited by Deckert's from what I see, so it looks like I'm in good hands between DLH and Deckert's! Thanks.
