ECV Rental Suggestions/Help

My MIL is in need of an ECV for our trip in a week and a half. I have been looking at different companies, reviews and competitive pricing.

I have found that "Sun Mobility Rentals" has the best price for the timeframe that we're there and a good "A" rating with the BBB. I haven't read any complaints about them.

Have you rented with Sun Mobility? Was your experience good? If you rented with someone else, who did you rent with and was their price good? Are there any deals out there?

If you do not use a "preferred" company you have to be onsite to pick it up and give it back.

We are using Apple so it will be there waiting for us instead of the other way around

I've rented from Buena Vista Scooters and also Walker Mobility. Both delivered to the resort and picked them up at the resort. I think I paid about 30.00 a day but that was a few years ago, so I'm not really sure. I was happy with both rentals. You could check out the disabilities threads for more info.

I found that "Sun Mobility" price's were cheaper than APPLE at $125/7 days vs $150. APPLE does say "Lowest Rates Guarentee", so maybe they'll give me Sun Mobility's rates! All I can do is ask, right?

APPLE told me they won't match "Sun Mobility" because their not a "Disney Approved ECV Vendor". Only thing he could do was give me 10% off their price, which still puts it $30+tax more than Sun.

I have some options to consider though. Thanks for all of your help! If anyone else has other suggestions, feel free to share them!

I know you may pay a little more with Apple scooter or Buena Vista scooters but I found it easier to stick with the disney approved scooter companies. It was nice to have the scooter already at the resort before we got there. If going with an outside vendor, not approved by Disney, you would need to be present to except it and to drop off at the end of your vacation.

That's true! With driving through the night and arriving on Disney property int he morning, who knows what the actual time will be, even though we're aiming at 6-7. It could be 8 or 9. Thanks for your feedback!

No problem. We were there last November with my mother. We used Apple scooter on our last trip and we had no problems at all. The price wasn't bad but I can't remember how much it was then. It worked out great since she needed it the minute we stepped off the bus.

ahh my rate was cheaper-- maybe because I am 4 nights only.
But something to consider-- they are not APPROVED vendor so you will need to wait for them to drop it off and wait for them to pick it up.

They are totally uncontactable between 6pm and 9am - and even then they just don't answer the phone when you do ring! I haven't read any complaints about them. That's because you haven't read my posts about them!

Have you rented with Sun Mobility? Yes. Was your experience good? No. Both scooters I had were well past their sell-by date. Totally scratched and battered. The battery cases were held on with Velcro and duct tape so needless to say, when it rained the first one died. The replacement was even worse condition than the first one, and the seat rocked from side to side. If you rented with someone else, who did you rent with and was their price good? Are there any deals out there?

You really want a WDW approved vendor. They will be able to meet you anywhere in the resort or parks if you have difficulty!! We used Apple for our 2 week trip and the scooters were great from beginning to end! When we first arrived, one of our scooter's key was clearly damaged - they arrived within 1/2 hour with a new key and off we went. It was all done while we were checking in as the scooters were waiting for us when we arrived at the resort.

Couple of minor corrections . ANY medical supply vendor can (and should) meet the renter anywhere onsite if there's an issue with the equipment. WDW Preferred - not approved - vendors have that designation solely because they pay a fee to Disney to be able to drop off and pick up the equipment at Bell Services. Other vendors need to hand off the equipment to the renter, and pick it up from the renter.
