Renting an ECV solely to do rope drop shlep from Poly to MK. Can it be parked outside MK? Actually do not want to ride it inside the park, just as a way to shorten the walk to and from Poly, esp the to MK rope drop portion.

No, there really isn’t parking outside the park. You are responsible for a rented ECV and I would not trust leaving that unattended for a significant amount of time (like all day). I suggest you take it into the park, and park it in each “land” while you walk around attractions there, then move it to another land, repeat.

you do realize that anyone/Cms can move it without the key. so I would bet it would not be there when you left the park like anything else left unattended. not sure how the rental company would like Disney calling them to come get one of their rentals, I would take ladyjane's advice and take into park with you

Definitely something you would want to take into the park, if you think that walk is a long one, it is nothing compared to the 12+ miles you will do in a day in the park.

If you are foolish enough to leave it outside of any park, then purchase the expensive insurance that covers any and all possible mishaps. Because it WILL be missing from where you leave it and the likelihood of recovering it is about zilch.
