How do people on ECVs access Gideons Bakery? Whenever I see pictures of the outside, there are lines of people waiting at the foot of a staircase. And I don't see anyone in an ECV. And if anyone here has gotten into Gideons with an EV, not only how did you do it, but also what did you buy?

This is from a couple years ago, hopefully the process is still the same.

The line was long so they were using a virtual queue. I gave them my cell phone number and they texted me when it was my time to return. When I returned they directed me to the end of the line (like everyone else). This line is about 15 minutes (or so they say). Once I reached the steps the employee directed me to the upper ramp to the entrance (very close).

Their web page discusses the virtual queue process.

To answer your second question, I got Gideon's Bites - a bag of chocolate dipped cookie quarters.

I was there last week. VQ wasn't being used. The line was about 30 min long. No problem waiting in an ECV in line. There is a ramp past the stairs but it's very small inside. I think you have to park the ECV outside the front doors. It's not a long wait once you are inside. About 5 min or less.

We bought the regular chocolate chip cookies, a coffee cake cookie and a slice of cake. We've gotten the cookie bites before and they are very good. They will hand you a little keep sake menu card when you get in line so you'll know what available before you get inside.

This is a change from when I was there a few years back. I guess I understand since the queue inside was a bit narrow, although I was able to navigate it without too much trouble.

That may change my plans if you have to park outside and walk inside since walking isn't an option for me.

I've always waited in the line and when I got to the steps next to go in they directed me around to the ramp and I parked the ECV and walked in. I think an electric WC could maneuver in there but in my mind it seems too small for an ECV to get through. I've not seen anyone take their ECV in. I wonder if you could call them and ask? ** their website says you can't call but they have an email webform for questions here: Email Gideons. Click on the bars at the top right of that page then click on Contact Us on the bottom right of the next page.

I got an assortment of flavors for my family - maybe 6 cookies? Wooooo...they are expensive!

It looked really tight to me, I left mine outside. But the inside hasn’t changed so maybe it was possible to take one inside.

Thanks-I just Emailed them.

They Emailed me back within a few hours. She indicated that ECVs are welcome inside, but are often directed to the cash register closest to the door so the ECV driver has a minumum of turns and negotiations to make with their scooter. She said that employees will help make it as easy as possible. Frankly, her reaction to my Email was so helpful and enthusiastic that I'll definitely make it a point to stop by and get a couple cookies!

That makes sense that they would accommodate someone that can’t walk. They want your business after all. Also glad to hear how nice the reply was.
