Hello! I have Spina Bifida which means I need use a cane to walk and walking far distances is strenuous on my back so I usually bring my wheelchair and someone usually pushes me. This generally works fine but I'm considering renting a ECV for our trip so family members don't have to push me as well as my kids. i just can't decide whether to rent one from outside company or just get one in the parks. I've heard bad things about doing either which really makes me nervous!! Any help is greatly appreciated, TIA!!!

I definitely suggest renting off property. I have used Apple and will use again this year. It is much cheaper and more convenient. First they may run out at the park. Even if ou get one in the am if you leave for a braek like we usually do theye may not have one when you go back. Also there are long walks from the bus to the rental desk inside the park. Also the Disney ECV are more difficult to manuever. If you are staying on property it is nice to have it to tour the resort.

used walker mobility three times, worked out great. this was off property. had a rental car, ecv easily came apart to load in trunk. loved having it avail for whenever I needed it. and I was cheaper by the week than daily charges in the parks.

Thank you so much for the tips!! Any trouble using Disney travel like monorail and buses? Heard sometimes bus drivers tell u no room when there actually is some! That's terrible!

I also just thought about the parking lot trams at DHS and AK? I've never seen an ECV on them.

Most of the drivers are great their only a few that will do that if that happens ask to speak to a manager. Disney will get rid if the bad drivers if they know about them so if you get one please report them. Most likely you will have a great trip and great drivers and good experiences on the bus.

If OP has a handicap tag, she'll be directed to the handicapped parking areas, which are closer to the gates. No tram will be needed. Just follow the blue lines to the handicap parking lots. At DS they are way up front, very close to the gates. When we were there May 10th-20th, we parked right across the street from the CSR bus stop, which is the closest bus stop to the gate. At AK the handicap lot is way off to the right and again very close to the front gate.
