EBTA 2014...Across the Atlantic we go!!!

On the Hawaii trip one generous person arranged Shutters to take a group picture. They charged $75 to take one photo that we then had the privilege to purchase.. And I think the ones we took outselves were better. Just my 2cents worth.
$75!!!!! That is highway robbery!!!! You would think they would want to do it for free due to the possibilty of then selling the photo! The fact that they charge that much and then you have to still buy it is insane! I sure hope the generous person got a least one free picture. And here I was thinking the $75 included Daisy but nope, that picture is from a different cruise.

My husband said he'd do it for half that price :rotfl: That's crazy! CG sounds great and I think, if guys are invited, it should be ruled that real men wear pink! :thumbsup2

ValBob, love that Daisy joined your group for the (wickedly overpriced) photo! :lovestruc

No!!! Bob took the Daisy picture so it didn't cost us anything!!!. It was the Hawaii cruise - no characters - that shutters took and charged $75, couldn't find that picture to show you but it wasn't any better. I don't think they gave anyone a free picture. Plus they would only give us a few minutes, maybe 10 minutes to get everyone in place and have the pictures taken. $75 for 10 minutes and then to charge us for the pictures - a crime - in my opinion.

It does. Thanks. I'm finding a flight on Icelandic air to Dulles for just over $400. Would require a 14 hr layover in Iceland, but hey who would not want to see a bit of Iceland on the way home. :scratchin We would then need to get to the west coast, but that would only be around 300 so total would be way under 1000 and no really long flights. Thinking, thinking.

We also definitely give a thumbs up for iceland air. Actually just left Iceland this morning from a 2 night stopover there on our way home from the EBTA (and post cruise Europe). Very beautiful. When I found our Iceland flights last summer and shared with 2013 EBTA folks, several ended up also booking. Our airfare was $2200 one way for all four of us, so about $550 each. That was Milan to Iceland, stopover, then home to Texas via JFK including all taxes and fees. $750 for dmil who had first class one leg and economy comfort the other. Very impressed with the airline.

My vote is for all girls but I don't have to worry as I am sure my husband will not attend or want to be associated with me after last year's CG. I am sure he is already practicing his line, "Why no, that is NOT my wife, I don't know who that is? I've never seen them before in my life!"

I might just pass this line on to my husband ... I have a feeling he might need it :rotfl2:

And dresses :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I don't know about that Mary, after hearing a certain story from Stevie, I can't imagine that he would ever try and take something from you! Unless he is wearing a cup! Then he might attempt it.

Oh dear Emily, where did that ancient story pop up from :scratchin, it was 20+ years ago and, to be fair, it was self-defence .... maybe he missed that part out of the story?? :rotfl2:

The photos from CG EBTA 2013 look pretty mental, I hope we have that amount of spare champers floating around to be as merry as that next time around :drinking1 :drinking1

I am open for Cabana Boys to serve drinks and take pictures.

.but I am open..we can let DCL serve .. and take the pictures.

Last CG I was at, the organiser's DH showed up to take the official pics, that worked well.

I'm really liking the idea of any boys who attend are in dresses and pink princess: :lmao::lmao:princess:

Hello dinner mate! We were lucky enough to eat with the Viking_53 family each night. It was super :goodvibes

Right back at you tablemate!

We had a great time with you as well each night!

We are really looking forward to this cruise again next year!

Oops, got it. I love the pic that Bob took. And I agree that it's a crime to charge that much to take a picture. Just to take it.

I will revisit them for next year's EBTA.

On the EBTA 2013 that Noel organized, the Cabana Boys served the CG and took pictures. They did not sit with any ladies, or chat them up...I'll see if I can find some pics.

On the October Hawaii, we had DCL serve and then another DISer took pictures. That worked out well too.

I am easy on this..I just want everyone to have a great time!

Dear All including the Transatlantic First Timers, the importance of a full medicine cabinet cannot be overlooked, your health in the long days over the days crossing can be assisted with one well stocked cabinet.

All alcohol can be used for medicinal purposes, of course.:rolleyes1

Glad I'm sharing a cabin with you :rotfl2: :drinking: party:

I also wanted to ask what do you need to do to set up a private tasting? DH and I were thinking about heading up a Mojito and Whiskey tasting but wanted to know what we need to do to set it up with disney. TIA.

They don't do mojito tasting anymore, apparently all the ships came together and agreed to offer 8 different tasting to stay consistent.
Lots of disappointed folks as the mojito tasting were really popular.

Will try to find email that I was sent with info regarding private group tastings:thumbsup2

Here we go again,

Just under a year to go and my wife's at it again, a little message from some people about booking flights and she's off!!! Planning trying to get good flight deals, well she asked me to book her a flight out of Glasgow to Florida a few days prior to the cruise. I haven't booked as I know I want to go earlier in May to enjoy the annual pass and I have lots of time off so I can go as early as the 9th. Oh well, at least it's direct. :rotfl:

Wow you were well prepared!

I can't drink much at all so the mixology, champagne girls etc will be interesting, just glad there's not many days I have to get up early :headache:

Love that!

I am going to be in Berkeley from July 3rd through the 8th! Where is it located?

I heard back from the shirt company in Berkeley and they do not have an open office. The good news is they've accepted my amended images and given me design numbers anyone can use. Unless I told you I had de-disneyed them I don't think you would even notice. I've gotten tees from Vista Print today, for the DCL Alaska cruise I am going on 7-8. When my TA test shirt comes I'll let you know how they compare. Vista will print anything - to bad they don't have colored shirts and only do embroidered polo's and jackets.

I had offered to work on designs for the WBTA FB group, or setup a Vista account, but a few made it clear they were running things and they didn't want my help. In fact they all but said I stole the image from one of their group members. I explained, as I have here, that I didn't create the sunrise image but that a DCL artist Tiki had, and that I got it from the DCL blog, probably the same place the person in the group got it from. Now they are trying to find a company, other then Vista, who will make shirts with a Disney theme and/or setup a Vista account everyone can use. That group has to much drama for me and often isn't very nice to each other.

Oh dear! :sad2: I hate drama. :headache:

Please understand that not all people from the WBTA think this way and often the drama can be atributed to a few who seem hell bent on causing drama at every occasion, however when two forums exists such as Dis and FB they seem to be playing a game of smoke and mirrors and deleting posts to suit themselves. It's all very sad. I only wish they could use the same amount of energy in a more positive manner.

On the matter of t shirts/polo shirts, I saw a number of people who had EBTA 2013 polos produced by Paul Brennan and whilst I wasn't too sure until I saw the quality of them for myself, they were first class, much better the even DCL produced for previous TA's in my opinion, apart from the embroidered shirts they had for the 2007 TA. However, we are just talking about a design of a T shirt after all.

Thanks for putting in the effort, many of us do appreciate you taking the time do this, after all, that's what the Disboards should be about.

Actually, if you notice, it's really only one person who is trying to find a company other than Vistaprint. The rest of us keep trying to point out that we've tried this in the past, and Vistaprint is the only place we found that would do the designs. But this person isn't happy with the selection on Vistaprint. The rest of us are fine with it and plan to use it, as we have in the past. Most of us would have been happy to have you set up the Vista account.

As for the magnet issue, it did look a lot like one of the designs submitted for the logo contest. People tend to be possessive of the things they come up with. Since no one posts where they got their images from when they first post the image, it's hard to know who created an "original" design and who used publicly available images. And after the drama created by a couple of people who came along and wanted everything done their way after the organizers had already started planning the activities, everyone got a little touchy. Hopefully that's all been dealt with now.

The majority of that group sailed together on the 2011, and they're actually lovely people. They just don't like being told they're doing things "wrong" - not that I'm saying you said that, it was another person who really ruffled everyone's feathers.

Agreed!!
