EBTA 2014...Across the Atlantic we go!!!

We were on the EBTA 2013 . . . . you may have noticed the "pink haired" girl who got married on Pirate Night . . . that was our daughter and her new husband! We had such a wonderful time, we booked for next year and can't wait. This is my first time on the Disboards. I met so many fun people onboard who use it, I thought I would give it a try!

Hi Debbie

Love your Disname and welcome to the Disboards. I tend to use both disboards and Facebook, but Stevie only posts over here :)

:welcome: aboard all new cruisers

Anyone finding any good airfare prices? The cheapest I can find for Barcelona to Chicago is $618 per person. Can anyone beat that?

Hey all! I am considering this cruise as well. I have it down to this cruise or the Independence of the Seas. For those who have sailed this cruising with Disney before, how was it? Was there enough to do? I have sailed the Disney Fantasy and loved it which is what is putting Disney on my list! I know that the Disney Magic is much smaller than the Fantasy.

There is a much to do as you want, or as little. The activities are available as on the Fantasy. Smaller ship, but still large and not so many people. Join us!:dance3:

I am looking as well. We are looking for any city to fly into at a good price. We cannot fly from BCN to Missoula, MT or Spokane, WA. :confused3:rolleyes: So, we will need to get somewhere, anywhere and then spend a night and get a flight to Spokane, WA to get us home. Quite a chore to travel from where the Pony Express is. :sad2: :rotfl2:

Since I am still deciding on the cruise here is what I have found. Flying from Barcelona to NY is only 500$ and then flying to my home airport (Orlando) from NY was only $100.

With what company are you flying? :listen:

I am wondering if anyone has hotel reviews for Cocoa beach. I was looking at Best western and cocoa beach suites. Just wondering if anyone has stayed at these?

The flight to NY was Turkish Airlines. I found it on Expedia. I was playing around with several large American airports and flying to NY is the best option. The only ones under $1000 that I saw.

I have seen Icelandic Air into east coast cities for under $600 off and on. Some days it shows up on Kayak and other days it does not. Requires a 14 hour layover in Iceland. I'm thinking old folks like us would need to get a room and grab some sleep, so that adds another couple of hundred. What to do, what to do.

I haven't looked at air yet..but my theory is that a rt is cheaper than a one way..so I booked the EBTA and the WBTA 2014 so I have one rt fare. BCN to ORD and back..plus a rt ord to mco and back, that way the only one way fare is san Juan to Orlando for the wbta..

I had a good experience at the BW there area years ago. The rooms were small, but the breakfast was good, close to beach and would stay their again.

For anyone who did this year's EBTA, the navigators mention that you can exchange currency for Euros. Did anyone do this? Do you remember what the fee was? Wondering if this was the best way to get Euros an how much we might need. I have no experience with getting foreign currency in bulk.

I did change money at the customer service desk. The rate was better than Chase since Chase also charged a fee for changing the money (in Chicago), but not as good as in country..I needed some euros for a taxi to the hotel, so I changed the dollars.

Condor flies to Spokane. Flights for next year are not available yet but they fly BCN to Frankfurt to Spokane. I am waiting for their flights BCN to Halifax via Frankfurt I saw prices as low as $539 for this years flights.

Last time we were in Europe we brought some Euro's with us, and got more from the bank machines there. It was the most cost effective way for us.

We were on the 2013 EBTA. As the PP mentioned, an ATM is the most cost effective way to get euros, but check with your bank for fees (sometimes there's a per transaction fee, a fee up to 3% built into the conversion rate, and/or fees by the owner of the ATM), as those can vary.

As I recall, the rate onboard was $1.375 per 1.00 euro, with no transaction fee. Cash only, though some have mentioned using a personal check. Keep your receipt, as Guest Relations let you exchange unused euros back to USD at the same rate (euro cash only, no coins).

I used bank ATMs four times, and was charged rates ranging from $1.297 to $1.342.
