Good Morning, Happy Cruisers!

So I'm finally getting around to booking flights to LA and from Miami. I'm seeing a significant different ($100-200 per ticket) on being able to leave at 10:15 am on 12/23 versus afternoon. Any DISers that have booked flights out of Miami before noon? DCL advises against it; however, on 4 previous cruises I also know that DCL gives debarkation priority to those with early flights out.

Jeff, for 10:15, you'd have to be at the airport by 8:15-8:45 at the latest! Given that Miami is a new port to DCL, there is no experience with how long it takes to clear the ship. Even if you could assume it would be cleared by 8:am, you'd need EVERYTHING to go perfectly and even then, I think you'd be pushing the envelope pretty hard. Do you really want to end your vacation with that kind of stress? And, if you didn't make the flight, how much would that cost you, on one of the busiest travel days of the year?

Not really anything to add to the dining discussion. I'm sure the diningrooms won't be so full that you couldn't change to the other seating if you find you hate the one you're on. And,goodness knows, there are plenty of eating opportunities to make up for any meals missed because one was on deck watching the sunset! (that would be me)

Happy Day, all!

I had a dream about the cruise, or at least trying to get to LAX. We were at the Toronto airport, it was the night before the flight was leaving. The airport was like a shopping mall, and I was doing my last check to make sure I had everything, and I could not find my passport. There was a lot of running up and down aisles, and then a big "to do list" book with pictures and pictures of Mickey Mouse and hand writing all over the place, but no real packing to do list. Not sure why I was looking through the book. That was about it. Never did get on the plane. The dream did make me think through the day we leave, and my son has changed part time jobs, and he works Sat. and Sun. mornings, so he will not be able to drive us. We will need to limo or park n'fly. Currently, I have a hotel booked for the night before, but it seems silly to stay at a hotel for a 45 minute drive. But a 45 minute drive in a snow storm could be 3 hours. Hmmm, guess I am starting to get excited about the trip, if I am dreaming about it.

Welcome! There seems to be quite a few 8-9 boys onboard, my nephew being one of them and he is sports crazy. I believe someone else mentioned their son also loved sports (socababy? Maybe?) I am sure between the clubs and sports deck, they will find a place to stay active and get their energy out.

Does anyone know if the sports deck will be open when we get on the ship in LA? I'm hoping a pick-up game of basketball or soccer will help break the ice for my sons.

I'm hopeful to celebrate International Take Your Mom to Tea at Palo Day (though this post may spoil the surprise). I don't see that reservation option available on the website. Am I missing something? Anyone else celebrating?

My 9 year old son can't wait to meet some boys! My fingers are crossed that he finds a posse of friends who are as interested as he is in endless trips down the water slide so that I am relegated to watching from the sidelines with a Drink of the Day in hand! :cool1: All while visiting with their moms, of course!

I found it helpful to go backwards through the posts, that way you come across the most current topics first. Like the postings about families with kids our age linking up for early dinner. Check it out!

Great advice! Thanks. So far I've made it back through the posts to the space shuttle (amazing pictures!). I feel like a salmon swimming upstream.

It is my understanding that tea is no longer offered at Palo. Kind of a bummer really since I really enjoy a good tea service.

I believe they have stopped offering the Palo teas to free up more brunch openings.

I have a story that is sort of a tangent of your's... We were taking a DCL cruise out of Vancouver for Alaska this past summer. We flew in the night before and was staying in a hotel that was just a couple of miles from the port. I contacted a shuttle service in advance about getting one to take us (4 adults and 1 child and luggage for a week cruise) to the hotel. I was told that I didn't need to make a reservation as there would be numerous shuttles available. When we arrived, AFTER 10PM, there were no shuttles to be found. :furious: And the standard taxi out of the airport were Toyota Prius's. :confused3 We would have to take at least 2 of them to get us all to the hotel. Then my son pointed to a strech limo and said "Maybe we should just get one of those." I walked up to the limo driver and inquired about the cost to get us to our hotel and it was just shy of the cost for 2 taxis. What a way to start our vacation. :thumbsup2

No tea at all, right? Didn't there used to be a Tea with Alice or something?
I am trying to figure out all the extra things we want to sign up for first thing, like the gingerbread house building.

No High Tea at Palo - there should be a tea with Alice. I have never done this and plan to on this trip - I may have to "borrow" a family or tag along with someone as my DD says she won't be doing it with me :confused3

The sports deck is pretty much always open - and the pools will be open for those who don't wish to partake in the 'eating events'. Not that I understand that:confused3

What day would that be?

Tammy's right there IS no Palo tea any longer - and tea with Alice is no substitute. Trust me on this one. Unless you have your OWN little rugrats - ~3-5 years old, I'd give it a pass. For parents and grand parents of toddler/preschool kids, the photo ops are precious, but other than that? NO.

Hey Jeff could you please add holula plus DH to late seating.

holula (2)
Chrissyt27 (2)
haileyboo (2)

so our table has room for 2 more.

thanks Jeff!!

Thanks for the ideas. I am hoping he will go in November instead of December but no matter what, we can work it out. He wants to fly back with the team so he can work with them on the flight. He is nervous about leaving them for 2.5 weeks without communication. He said he stressed that in the meeting and they agreed. So hopefully they will have enough done to make the Novemeber trip. DH is so excited about DL I would hate for him to miss. He already made his ride list. Such a cute dork.

Any interest in a pre-meet meet for the Disneyland crew?

Am I the only one who sees the obvious solution here? Take his team on the cruise! :beach:

My two boys are 8 and 6 (younger pictures in the signature bar) and will be running between the kids clubs and pools. Looks like there will be a few their ages. Should be a fun time for them.

Yay, awesome! :) The last cruise we were on we kept getting mistaken for newlyweds, I see it has already started. ;) (I really don't care if people think we are married, it was just funny because everyone for 7 days thought we were on a honeymoon.)

I am on the reservation page and I do not see where to book the transport to the Port.

Really I just wanted to see how much money it would be for 2 people.

And where do you get it? I did see something that makes it sound like at the LA Airport. Not sure though.

We will be staying at the Fairfield Wed-Sun. We are renting a car Saturday, just overnight to drive into LA. We may just drive to the port if it doesn't cost too much more to take the car there.

My husband did find this, so we are also looking in to it.

2 people on shared shuttle = $48
Private van for up to 7 people = $86

Sorry I did see you say and friend after I posted that.
O well, may as well live it up:rotfl2:

I have Minnie Mouse Bridal ears somewhere. I also have Bride and Groom T-shirts, but they have the dates on them I think.

we honeymooned on the Magic in 2007:groom::bride:

Lol, it's fine. :) We have to save for my dream WDW wedding first! Idk about the USA - we have lived here less than a year - but in the UK it's common for two people to live together for 3+ years before even thinking about marriage!

And a DCL honeymoon sounds amazing. :)

Definitely suffering from this disorder! Is anyone else?

I have the opposite. When I have trouble falling asleep, I think about being on one of the Disney ships and how relaxing it feels to be on a cruise. Then I usually drift off into a nice Disney cruise dream.
